Non-collapsing categories

Hi there,

I just installed my vbulletin and I've got many categories with many sub-forums within each of those categories. They've all collapsed to the point that I worry people will not see them. I would like to expand all the categories so that you can see each forum without having to expand them. Any ideas? I've looked through the options and can't find anything of the like.

Thank you very much in advance!

Muff

I am not 100% sure of what your asking, but you can remove the collapse button from the 'Category' by going to the:
forumhome_forumbit_level1_nopost
Template, and finding:

<a style="float:$stylevar[right]" href="#top" onclick="return toggle_collapse('forumbit_$forumid')"><img id="collapseimg_forumbit_$forumid" src="$stylevar[imgdir_button]/collapse_tcat{$collapseimg_forumid}.gif" alt="" border="0" /></a>
and deleteing it. This should remove the collapse button.

If you have any troubles just hit me back!

well it seems that the categories collapse by default and I'm trying to get it to NOT do that. I want them to all be seen, like http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/

Thank you for any help,

Muff

Muff, that's the way vBulletin is layed out. It would take a great deal of coding for all of each and every forum's content to be readily viewable on that front page, plus the fact that the page would be miles long and take alot of time to load.

so what you're saying is it's not easy to make that change. Bummer.

I don't have that many subforums that it would take some time to load, but I do wish more was visible because it's kind of hard to see that there's more content unless you really look for it.

Thanks!

Muff.

Your forum is layed out by default to look like the screenshot you posted above of vBFAQ. It should already look like that.

It would really help if you posted a screenshot of your forumhome or provided a link for us to have a looksee. It's very hard to advise on something we can't see. :)

I tried to post the url but it's not letting me for some reason. Looks like it's posted but then when I refresh the reply is not there. You can try twistedumbrella.com slash forums.

*edit* Oops, there it is....my bad.

The PVP Team, the Newbie Board, Class Forums, Professions - do you have these set up as forums, sub-forums, or categories?

If you're wanting to show the thread content, you have them set up wrong. If you want, you can pm me admin login info, so I can take a look.

when I set them up all I did was read someone's tutorials. They said to check "no" when it said "set up as forum?" I assumed that then made them categories.

I'll pm you login info as well.

Peggy is the best!

You had all of the other categories as child forums of the General category. Whenever you create a new category, be sure that the parent forum (3rd or 4th setting from the top) says None.

Enjoy!
