haha, if you had mod_geoip, you could block Turkey and others and stop the spam.

Ive been considering it. I dont know that this is spam though. No links and the website listed in the profile goes to a forum.

I assumed it was a bot making a test post since it was so odd.

But, it appears to be a member. I guess that was to meet other Turkish people? I can't read it.

I'm blocking 40 countries so far. The only thing missing now from my site as a result is on the WOL page. We no longer have tons of supposed users registering or attempting login.

We get better quality traffic too. But I have been working on the clean up two weeks, it's not a silver bullet. You have to work it just like SEO.

My biggest gain is most, if not all, of the bad proxies that rewrite your site and display it under their URL where it can get indexed as duplicate content are gone.

Translated "comprehend but anyway" :D and I believe above you are just telling the name of your company. I am a little rusty.

This looks interesting certainly a helluva lot better than blocking IPs via htaccess.

You need to do both, but, it gets easier. I posted the answer about an hour ago RE: ips.

Once you lock them out country wise, the proxy sites and spam servers from the US will hit.

You can block entire data centers though with the IP CIRD and shut that down fast.

There is no need to allow other computers, non people, to access a site. The DCs are not ISPs in almost all cases, so it works well.

It's about 2 weeks and counting for us to block the necessary traffic and we're still logging and checking.

I have a strong feeling that blocking that traffic will increase click through and lower impressions. Google likes us to not entertain "evil" traffic. So it's a win win there.
