How sweeeeeeeeeeet! That's the very first thing my 6 yr old son does... gets out of bed, comes searching for me (not that he has to look far), wraps his little arms around my neck and says "I love you mommy".
God that just melts me.....

My son has decided that he needs (his word) to meet all the men I've met online (by "met" I mean Im'd with, talked to on the phone, met in person, etc).

I told him, "sorry, but I'm not going to live long enough for you to meet them all"

So he's selected a privileged few -

Joey, Mike, Dan, a couple of people from the site I used to own, and a few others.

I'm in trouble....

Mom: Do you want chips and dip at your party?
Him: NO, just chips!
Mom: You don't want dip?
Him: No!
Mom: You usually like dip?
Him: No dip!
Mom: Then what kind of chips do you want?
Him: Chocolate chips!

So rather then chips and dip at the party this weekend we are getting cookies!

Had a good phone call today.

I applied to do a Software Engineering degree at University starting this October a couple months back and the course access tutor called me today asking about what I know, experience and stuff.

I told her, she looked at a couple of my sites (whilst I was on the phone to her, eek), and I got an email a couple hours later saying as long as i send in my exam certs, I've got a place on the course.:)

This is great news if I do get on, really want to get into programming, as for me, it seems all the good stuff requires PHP/C++/Javascript type knowledge and this will help boost my lagging IT career a ton.

Wanted to do something like this for a good couple years now as being able to do this kind of stuff will let me make the scripts I want for the sites I wanna make, and also allow me to work anywhere in the world and still drag a decent wage.

Year 1
Students start by acquiring basic skills in using computers, together with an understanding of how computers are used in business and industry.

Core subjects focus on the fundamentals of programming along with computer technology and information systems.

Modules studied:
Personal and Professional Development
Software Design and Implementation I
Introduction to Systems Analysis and Design
Computer Technology
Mathematics for Computing.

Year 2
Core subjects build on the first year foundation with further study of design and programming methods.

The core study in Software Engineering further develops students’ design, specification, and programming abilities

Options include Modern Languages and Management, together with a broad selection of computing topics.

Modules studied:
Software Design and Implementation 2
Information and Database Engineering
Systems Software
Professional Development 2
Software Engineering.

Optional modules:
Internet and Visual Programming
Global Business Systems
Decision Support Systems
3D Design for Games
Foreign Language.

Year 3

After the second year, there is the opportunity of a placement in industry, including overseas options. Placement salaries for 2003-2004 ranged from £9,000-£26,000.

The School has an excellent record of placing students and has good contacts with both local and national industry. A number of placements are available in Europe and worldwide.

Final year

All students are required to do a substantive individual project. This is supported by compulsory modules in quality and design. The remaining final year content is determined by the relevant course and by students’ option choices. Students have free choice for their final year options from any of the final year computing modules for which they have completed the prerequisite study.

Students cover advanced software implementation topics and project management. Human factors for computer design are considered together with issues for real time systems.

Modules studied:
Advanced Software Engineering
Advanced Analysis and Design
Human Computer Interaction
Real Time Analysis and Design
Project Management
Project.

Optional modules:
Multimedia
Artificial Intelligence
Business and Management
Distributed Object Computing
Foreign Language.
Kinda buzzing.
