Forum Jump Menu - How many use it?

I'd like to conduct a little unscientific study here. How many people use the forum jump to move from forum to forum?

The forum jump menu is the drop down list of forums just above the footer
Thanks,
Dan

I use it once in a blue moon over at DP. Their drop down can be handy and they have so many forums.

But in general, I don't even look for it, let alone use it.

Wait there is a forum jump menu. :D

Just kidding. I never use it. Really have never found a use for it really.

Most thorough vBulletin optimization how to write ups suggest disabling forum jump and / or removing it too.

I don't like to use it, but a couple of members bitched at me for turning it off so I had to enable it.

I've heard that before on my forum. Seems people use the forums to pick where they hang out and surf the thread lists rather than use "new posts" and see all activity.

I have always said that as admins, our perception of end user habits is way off base.

Interesting info.

I hear ya. "New Posts" is my 2nd home on just about any forum. Funny thing is, I experimented once and removed the New Posts link from the navbar - got bitched at about that too!

Go figure...

I disabled it completely. There were one or two squeals, but once I pointed out that it was quite a big chunk of data that was being downloaded with every page, the murmurs ceased.

Sometimes it helps living in a country with expensive bandwidth :D

I'll be the odd man out. (Again) I use it all the time, although I do have it disabled for guests.

It's one of those things that I just got comfortable using and never broke the habit. It's like Peggy using "New Posts", which is one that I never use.

I use it sometimes in other forums, but I have it disabled in my forum. Don;t want all that coding to fatten up the pages and slow the load time.

I ran this poll on my busiest forum, these are all pretty much regular internet users opposed to us webmasters: http://www.ourdjtalk.com/showthread.php?t=8398

Only one person so far uses it regularly so I disabled it and pages load noticeably faster. It's not a huge improvement but it's a little something.

I'm going to disable it on my other two forums before they kick off and people start using it, then wonder why it disappeared. :)

I never use the forumjump, but I implemented it on my community for the users.

Might I ask how?

Please keep it simple, preferably as per the below instructions:

Admin CP > VBulletin Options > Next Step > Next Step

Thanks,
