AuctionAds News Feed

Throughout the past couple of weeks, we have been working closely with Commission Junction to ensure that reporting was in sync with their records and our records. Last weekend, we unfortunately had some issues with the server network that operates and publishes the ads, so some of you may have noticed your ads with no thumbnails or bids. We are sorry about that. We fixed the problem as fast as we could identify it.

This transition from one set of hands to the next has been a long journey, but we are glad that you have stuck with us. We have been working day and night to get this service back to where it once was. We want, more than anything, for this service to be a huge success and for it to really benefit you, our publishers. We are working on new features, new ad blocks, and trying to expand functionality on a daily basis. We have a committed development team working together to pin point any issues, resolve them, and get the system back on track.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to you, our publishers, the reason we are even continuing this service, and want to thank you for sticking with it. We know there have been some issues, we know there have been some downfalls, we know that there have been click-tracking issues, but please rest assured that you ensure that you get paid for every cent you earn. Thanks again!

Well, they could communicate better, that much is true. But I also think some people are being too hard on auctionads. My Sept numbers are good, almost as good as June.

I dont know that I believe the people who tell us they were making thousands in June and next to nothing now. My stats just dont reflect that.

I think Auctionads is great for some forums. If you have a niche where people buy and sell things from ebay, such as automobile forums, you can do well with AuctionAds. If you have a webmaster forum or a politics forums, your not so likely to do so well.

I think Its crucial to install the hacks we have on vBFAQ to do well with AuctionAds. ESPECIALLY the rewrite hack.

I think they need to allow a few comments through in their blog as well...according to the way it looks only you and me read the damned thing, as no comments have been approved (not even mine from like a month ago).

They also could likely do with a proof reader, as heh, there is nifty quote in that entry, near the bottom, that does not really bod well for those not getting the numbers they think they should be.

I've always had little numbers, so I've never really complained. Though I can say that my CTR has finally dropped to a record low, of which I blame on non-targeted ads. *shrug* They used to do SO well for the little publisher...now I'm not so sure.

I'm simply hard pressed to believe that someone on an occult site wants to by studded handbags, a Nintendo, or motorcycle accessories. I am actually at my closest of removing the ads as I've ever been (on my forum) as I am trying to hist the ads as a service, not to make money. I'm currently making no money, and with non-targeted ads, I'm not providing a service either. I don't care about the money, I'm making due....but I do care about what I'm delivering to my memberbase...and it's certainly not webkinz!

Accessing the eBay API directly, the auctions returned for my keywords are perfectly on target. It's cool.

I liked the project so much, I made a duplicate for Amazon.

It's way better this way than any other contextual Advertising I've ever seen on any site with any topic.

Only eBay is deployed so far and for about 24 hours. Amazon will go online today live.

Ads are not javascript, so system security programs like norton won't turn them off like other ad blocks. Nofollow is used. Ads open in new windows. Ads are fresh hourly. Every add is guaranteed an image. The code is local and we control it.

Anyway, point is, I agree, the stats I see around the forum and blog circuit for AA are not of any validity from what I can see.
