to encourage growth (and hopefully gain sponsors) i am thinking of making a free e-zine for my forum. members or non-members can sign up for the subscription, but only members would be able to view the archieves. but i do not know how to make a button on my forum for people to subscribe. any ideas? has anyone tried this before? did it work?

Are you looking to manage the e-zine subscription seperately from the registration of members? If not, a simple button that links to the registration page would do the trick quite nicely.

yeah it would be separate. you would not have to be a member to subscribe

You're going to need a mail list manager then.

I hear you about wanting a button, but I'd be inclined to use a text link to avoid confusion. It's going to have to say "Subscribe to our e-zine" or something similar to clearly differentiate from the act of registering as a member.

Ultimately, it's about putting a link to the subscribe page of the mail list manager somewhere on your forum - either in the header or footer (or both) I reckon.
