When forum member A places forum member B
on his/her 'ignore list,' what impact does that
have on the receiving of PMs by A from B;
what impact (if any) does that have on B
attempting to send a PM to A?

You can't receive a PM from anyone on your ignore list. I'm not sure about sending to someone on the ignore list, but I'm pretty sure that's a no-no, as well.

Thank you, Peggy. I've followed up, using your information,
with the details quoted below. If I've erred somewhere, please
correct me.
I've had some information on the matter of being
able to add someone to one's IGNORE list and the
impact such has on PMs. However, please understand
that I have not tested it, myself.
So, go to and click on your User CP up in the top
left hand area of your screen occupied by the forum.
(As opposed to the advertising)
When that page has loaded, down the left hand side
you'll see a long column, headed Control Panel, and,
near the bottom is a boxed area marked Miscellaneous.
In that is located Buddy / Ignore Lists.
Click on that and you'll see a page which allows you
to achieve what's wanted. In the Ignore List box,
in the white area beneath Add New User to List,
start slowly typing in weas . . . .
As you type, the PT Forum software will present you
with a list of names that are a close match to the
letters you've entered. When the correct one is
seen, move your mouse pointer to that name and
click it. That will place it in the white box.
Then click on [Save List] which is to the right of
the place where the ignored person's [nick]name
was entered.
That should prevent any further unwanted PMs.
However, there is a side effect. You will no longer
see the forum posts made by the person whose
name appears in your ignore list. I.e. you will see
that there is a post, but not the contents. If I recall
correctly, you can click on "something" and that will
then result in the post being displayed. But that
step is needed for every post made by the named
entity in your ignore list.
If that gets unduly tedious, you can go back to the
ignore list and remove the name, which will return
you to the previously prevailing view post and PM
receipt arrangements.
Whether or not there's a way to avoid PMs from an
Ignore List person, but still see posts from that person,
I don't know.
Good luck.

That looks to be about right Perry.
