Quick question regarding "thread view counts"

I've search this forum and googled but haven't been able to solve my problem. My forum problem right now is that the views aren't increasing as members are viewing the threads .... views are only going up as members post in the threads (i.e. posts 8, views 9).

I've tried going into "vBulletin Options", "Server Settings and Optimization Options" and changing "yes" to both "Update Thread Views Immediately" and "Update Attachment Views Immediately" .... but still having this problem.

Long story short, someone else was working on this forums before me and they may have changed some code, don't know for sure though!

Thanks for you help,

Thread views are only updated once per hour by default. This is done to decrease server resource usage.

You can change the setting in vBulletin Options > Server Settings and Optimization Options. Set "update thread views immediately" to yes.

Tagging along on this because I am also having this problem. Our thread views were working fine, but recently someone pointed out to me that we're having that "thread view = # of replies +1" issue. I myself don't give a rat's hiney about thread views, but the people who seem to care about them have noticed that it's been doing this for about six weeks. :rolleyes:

I have checked other VB sites, and have already tried/checked their suggestions, which include:

took a look at the footer code...If you removed that code, your cron jobs won't run which means your counters won't update automatically.

I checked, and my footer code seems to be fine. Here it is:

<div align="center">
<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
</div>

<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$cronimage
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->

$vboptions[copyrighttext]
</div>
</div>

Then I tried these two things.

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Server Settings and Optimization Options -> Update Thread Views Immediately -> Yes

Try rebuilding the thread and forum counters in that order:

Admin CP -> Maintenance -> Update Counters

After doing both of those, things just get weirder. :confused: Now, if I run a search for "New Posts," some of the threads now show many LESS views than replies (like, there will be 18 replies, but only 5 views :confused:), but others still show the same replies+1 number. HOWEVER...if I just go to a forum and look at the list of threads, they're ALL "replies+1", even the ones that had had fewer views than replies when I did the New Post search. :confused:

I am just stumped. I would appreciate advice from anyone who has any thoughts on this topic. Thank you!
