Joeychgo 07-18-2006, 08:41 PM I added something new to the forum... which I think people will like.
If you go to the edit options (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions) section on your account, at the bottom there are two fields. If you have an AdSense account, you can specify your AdSense client ID (and a channel if you want).
If you specify it, the AdSense ads that are served on threads you start have a 50% chance that they are credited to your AdSense account (both impressions and click-throughs).
The only stipulation on it is you must have 25 or more total posts before it's active for your account (it's retroactive for all previous threads once you hit that level though).
So, the idea here is - be active on vBulletin FAQ. The more active you are, the more of your ads that will be displayed and the more money you will earn. The busier vBFAQ gets, the more chance that ads on threads you create will get clicks.
Oh, one more thing. We added a conditional to the script. You will never see your own ads. If your viewing a thread you started, the ads on that thread will not be using your publisher id.
Let me know what you think...
Peggy 07-18-2006, 08:47 PM VERY good idea! I wish they'd hurry up and approve my app

Did you remember I have been looking for this hack for sometime.
Is it possible that you can share this hack with me?
Thanks in advance :)
Great idea, sounds like a plan to me.
KW802 07-19-2006, 01:55 PM So when entering the value would it be just the "pub-xxx" number or one of the following...
Adsense for Content = ca-pub-xxx
Adsense for Search = partner-pub-xxx
Referrals = ca-ref-pub-xxx
:)

contactsonia 07-20-2006, 10:25 AM Joe! Could you please confirm that you are using the same hack as mentioned by Loco.M or it is a different one or a custom one? You know why I am asking this ;)

I coded it from scratch.
contactsonia 07-21-2006, 03:56 AM Wow! Gr8.
Any chance to release this hack?
Or can you share the same with me at least ;)
contactsonia 08-01-2006, 12:54 AM Sorry for bumping the thread!
Any comments on abovementioned request :)
WoodiE55 08-01-2006, 07:32 AM Joeychgo - Pretty cool idea. I know you've only started this two weeks ago, but have you noticed any kind of improvement in user activity?

It's not coded in any way for release. There is no automation, just a big huge multidimesional array that I came up with that contains all kinds of stuff about affiliates and advertisers.
Elbow 09-06-2006, 03:42 AM good deal I saw this at another forum I wont name, PN's? cool huh?
good2laugh 09-06-2006, 09:34 AM good idea guys, i doubt i'll post my info in cuz honestly, I don't start to many thread..lol
ditto, I read mostly here, might add the odd comment or word of thanks but doubt I'd ever start a thread. Its a nice way to potentially reward those members who contribute a lot here, and encourage others to post. I know on my site I created a user title "valued member" where the way to earn that title was the sharing of info, support for others etc, I did notice a few quieter posters began to share info a little more so the board did pick up quite a bit.
The only thing that would concern me would be if suddenly there were a lot of threads where the aim wasn't to share info or chat with fellow faq-ers but purely to make money, could end up with lots of nonsense... but that is just probably the sceptic in me. Good luck with the idea team, hope it works out well :)
Big Dan 09-06-2006, 11:04 AM I added my adsense info at first then took it down. I feel weird coming to vB-faq; getting excellent info and help then trying to make money off the few posts I start. I'd much rather the adsense dollars (pennies :p) go to Joey after all I wouldn't know half as much about vB as I do now without this place. :)
