I want to have a way to allow my members to have a short little blurb and link to promote their own business on my forum. However, they would need to pay to have this link, and it would be time limited. The two ideas I had to do this were:
(1) Pay to post: Have one forum for advertising, and the user has to pay X dollars to have a post there for X amount of time. When the time ran out, the post was deleted. Better yet, they get an email asking if they want to renew, and if they don't renew, the post gets deleted.
(2) Second signature: Have a subscription that gives a user a second signature box and only that sig box can be used for advertising. When the subscription runs out, they lost the ability to have the advertising sig. Would use style sheets to make the second sig say "Advertisement" above it so it would be easy for mods to tell if someone is trying to advertise without having paid (i.e. putting it in their regular sig). This would be my preferred method.
Any ideas on how I could do either of these, or a similar/better idea?
