Better Postbit Legacy

OK by request here is how to make your postbit legacy look like the attachment I included.

I have only tried this for vb 3.7 and with postbit legacy. So I can not say if it will work on 3.6 or earlier. If you want to try it on 3.6 and let me know if it works or not then great. If it does not work then give me access to a 3.6 version of VB and I will have a play with it to get it working.

A link to the users homepage will show up in their postbit. It will be labeled "View My Homepage" and will have a rel="nofollow" tag on it so the serps will not follow it. If the user does not fill in the Homepage option in their profile then a link will not show up in the postbit.



You have 2 options to do this.

Option 1:

Step 1:

AdminCP> Styles & Templates> Style Manager> Edit Templates> Postbit Templates> postbit_legacy

Now Find:

Step 2:

Now you need to goto:

AdminCP> Styles & Templates> Style Manager> Main CSS

Scroll to the very bottom and add the following in the last box:

I would caution people tho about replacing their entire pb legacy template, if they have other edits in that template. Rather they should look at your code in the template above and implement only what they need, to achieve the look.

Yes that is part of the new 3.7 albums. I did this on a 3.7 beta 6 forum.

Firstly, thank you very much for this tutorial, it is exactly what I've been looking for. :D
I did exactly as you said to do and nearly everything turned out great, however there are some fields in my postbit that remained without the lovely boxes. I have 'icash' installed and a 'karma system'.......these fields do not display the boxes, can you help with this please?
I should mention that I am using vb 3.7.0 Beta 5.

The problem is that the code isn't in your template, which means that it was most likely one of those hacks that does the template edit either automatically or gives you the option of doing the edit yourself or letting it do it for you.

I hate it, that so many coders have added that option to their hacks. Alot of people opt for that option, not realizing that the code won't actually be added to the template, therefore they can't customize it later. There are hacks that do the navbar template edit, etc, and when you go to customize the navbar, you're screwed, because there's no code there to move. Same thing here. You want to customize your postbit, but there's no code there to customize, so you're screwed.

The only thing you can do is go back to that hack in your ACP, see if you do have a choice between automatic edit and manual edit (DIY), If so, then change it, and YOU do it. Then you'll have code to edit in the template.

I don't see the attachment. I installed this and I think there is something not showing in my post bit legacy. Nothing about the Albums. I used Option 2

P.S. If it matters I made a new style and am doing my edits in that one and only I can see that style.
