SurfSpeedy Hosting...
Ok so I heard from someone that I should use surfspeedy hosting for my vbulletin site, so I checked out their site, it was cheap and they looked great. Now a month later, I wish I would have never though about using surfspeedy in any way possible.
Their security is horrible, and my site got hacked through another account on the server. Then then attempted to fix it and made it worse by deleting my files on accident which were not recently backed-up. Then they told me they would have everything fixed in about 3 hours. FIVE DAYS LATER... I finally got sick of their lies and contacted their manager and told him exactly what was on my mind.
His solution for the problem and the havok he reaked on my website? He banned me from their website and will not allow me to usethe support system anymore. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... my account still is not working and goes on and off from that hack that happened about 6 days ago now.
On their homepage it clearly says that they have 100% satisfaction garantee and 100% uptime. So I figured I would give that a shot through a proxy so I could get on their site. I sent 3 tickets now through their support system in the past 2 days and still no response. I am pretty sure they are just instantly trashing them because I checked the status on them and they say CLOSED.
There has to be so many lawsuits involved in this whole mess, but I personally do not have a lawyer, so what am I to do? Im 16 years old, stuff like this shouldnt be happening to me.
So my advice to you guys... STAY AWAY FROM SURFSPEEDY!
Im pretty new here but I thought I would tell you guys this...

Sixteen year olds can't enter into contracts. So likely, all that would happen is you get a refund and no damages. You should have an adult sign up for you with a credit card so you can get a refund from the bank.
It is a bad thing that happened though either way if it is the case however.
P.S. They guarantee nothing!
2. SurfSpeedy's services are provided on an as is, as available basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including, but not limited to, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. SurfSpeedy expressly disclaims any representation or warranty that the SurfSpeedy services will be error-free, secure or uninterrupted. No oral advice or written information given by SurfSpeedy, its employees, licensors of the like, will create a warranty; nor may you rely on any such information or advice. The terms of this Section will survive any termination of this Agreement.
I would say don't use SurfSpeedys service in the future and that the guarantees you cite if listed ont he web site may constitute bait and switch. They can't offer the guarantee and then rip it out from under you in the TOS later. That is illegal in my past experience. But doing something about it is another story. Cut your losses and move on.

The fact that they guarantee 100% uptime should set the warning bells off right away. No host can make that guarantee.

I gave them an out of course. It's not like I backed them into a corner. But I bet I get no reply.
And that's OK too, because this thread is on DP too and they WILL lose business as a result no matter what happens here. :p

Well, you pretty much got exactly what I said you would. Lesson learned I hope. I'd hate to admit it, but way back, I had similar experiences. Hopefully we all learn something here.
Good luck.

SurfSpeedy Hosting...
So my advice to you guys... STAY AWAY FROM SURFSPEEDY!
Im pretty new here but I thought I would tell you guys this...
I agree 100% with you.
Here is my story with Surf"speedy"
We have had a company domain name with surfspeedy for 4 years.
Due to moving our office to Bangkok, Thailand we have decided to update our DNS and use a local dedicated server.
I tried to enter the billing system on Surfspeedy where you should be able to change the DNS yourself. Only to find out my username and password from the welcome letter didnt work. But i still had access to our server at Surfspeedy.
So I emailed the guys at Surfspeedy and aske for info on how to access, change our DNS and pay for extension of both server and domain name here is the story of one guys struggle against canned messages and can heads.

Also i cant find any billing information on the domain name if i want to pay for extension i tried to log in with xxxx@xxxx.com and the password from the sign up mail but it dosent show www.xxxxxxxxx.com
I have access to a server on http://xx.myhostcenter.com
didnt know I had that? When to pay for that again and how?

Let me get this right! You have time to ask a question, but not to answer one? Is this canned messages?
I still want to know:
1. where can I pay for my domain? - It isent under the billing/domain on my login.
2. Where can I pay for my server under the same acocunt? - Again it isent under my account/billing?
I need to change DNS from to:
Primanry DNS: xxxxxx.com -> xxxxxxxxx.com
Primary IP: xxxxxxxxxxx -> xxxxxxx
Secondary DNS: xxxxxxxxx.com -> xxxxxxxxx.com
Secondary IP: xxxxxxxxx-> xxxxxxxxx

I cant log on to my billing - i can logon to my server and everything else, but i can not log on to my billing and pay for my domain, pay for my server change my DNS - i can not log on to your billing system with my username and password provided by you.
PLease choose your answer carefully as I have decided to post theese canned answers to other readers - it has taken you days to inform me about nothing.

Allan,
Your previous two tickets for the billing team are still open with them and will be answered as soon as possible. Please refrain from opening any additional tickets, as the support team isn't able to help you with this.

Jeff

Well I dont give a rats ass about refraining from open other tickets and forwarding to a non existing billing department controlled by canned messages. You may run your business as a you may but we are trying to run ours and it is not possbile with the lack of service from surfspeedy. Now I dont want to make you responsible after all you are the only person who actully reads and replys so understand our situation now.
We asked for this for days now - we got to respons from billing that sure is canned messages....
"Would you like to close your account" - WTF! answer with a question.
"You can see and change your settings in your billing account"
Yes fine BUT WE CANT ACCESS OUR BILLING!!!! that is the whole issue.
And so it becomes a suppport question - because where is our account????
and our domain?????
OKay read this and no more canned messages
read the WHOLE issue!!!!

Hello,
While I understand your frustration, my hands are tied. No matter how much I'd like to help you the support department simply does not have access to our Billing systems. I will, however, give you some extra points of contact to help you get in touch with the people who do.
The guy in charge of Billing's name is Rey. You can e-mail him at:
xxxxx@surfspeedy.com
Also, after 8:00am Eastern Time you can call him at:
1-888-xxx-xxxx Ext. x
I honestly wish there was more i could do to help you, but it's simply not possible.
Regards,
Mike
So I emailed the guy - today it is 4 days ago and still no answer on how to access and pay for my domain, server or change my DNS
Guess Surfspeedy is not so speedy after all.
And yes legal action are under way since we are a company and need to rund our online business like adults and not some 7 year old playing with dad's hosting company. And yes i will post at link to this thread on their ticket system and my blog as well.

Im sorry, I just cant picture a lawyer taking this on, there are so many rewarding cases
out there, and I just cant see this being one of them... maybe a civil case at best, even if you won, you still lost, no one can really enforce that hosting company to pay or release your dns information. even after a small claims, no one can really force them to pay, its just on the books and thats pretty much it.
I make it a practice to have an independent dns site from my hosting, because if have all my dns domains on a hosting company, and then I decide to move my hosting, they can hijack your dns information or lock you out altogether. it shows they got upset when you wanted to move your hosting, so they are not willing to provide any futher information about your DNS problems.
