Google seemingly has acquired Feedburner and in doing so have finally made public their RSS adsense...

While it seems to be more focused to blogs, it's certainly an option for vBulletin

You can get more information here: http://www.google.com/support/feedburner/bin/answer.py?answer=99648&hl=en

Or just log into your adsense account and click on "set up". (you'll need a feedburner account)

I look forward to addons that will help in converting existing feeds to the feedburner feeds...

Hey you, good to see you around again.

I built a house off the grid, in fact, it's sooo far off the grid that I do not have electricity. So no real net access. My mother is on vacation, so I've been on her computer all week ;)

I plan on getting a blog started on it, and if I can come up with the funds, a vBulletin for like minded homesteaders (homsteading.us is the site, but it's got nothing on it yet)

Thanks for this helpful information.

Not a problem! I came over here in hopes that there would already by a mod or two on it, but heh, I didn't even find the announcement. I guess it's new, so YAY 4 ME for finding it *snicker*

I'll be around every now and again when I visit the folks though... they only live down the road.

Either have I...

Unless of course it somehow knows I am subscribed and it's not counting me, and I'm the ONLY one subscribed *shrug*

You need to enter your google publisher code at feedburner.

Personally, I'm not sure this is a good idea for forum sites, though. I use IE7 to manage my feeds. I added the bookmark add-on to my burnt feed and the damn thing takes ages to load as each associated image is called individually for every entry. Ridiculous.

And you could be in for the same thing with the adsense add-on - apart from the probability of bugging folks. People select RSS feeds for a reason - usually clean, convenient content without frills.

Where? Under the feedburner Monitize tab it says...

To activate AdSense for feeds, sign in to AdSense and then look for the AdSense for feeds link under the AdSense Setup » Get Ads tab. All feed ad setup and ad performance reporting features may now be found in AdSense.

Ahh. That be true now.

You can either migrate your feedburner.com account to Google accounts or burn a feed in Adsense. It's this account migrate/merging process Google's going through.

Hmmm...

I made my feeds through the adsense page, so I reckon they should be migrated automatically... as the feeds are hosted through a google domain now.

Maybe I'll diddle around the preferences and what not and see what happens.

*shrug*

I don't expect to make a lot of money off them or anything, as heh, most people just visit my forum rather then use the feeds, so I'm not all that concerned.

Though, if you can write a tutorial on how it all works, with a little promotion, I bet you'd do great earning some extra cash!

WOW... I posted this a year and a half ago and finally just got the blasted thing to work correctly. It has a LOT to do with procrastination and a lot less to do with motivation.

However, it seems no one really gives a flip about my forum outside of the forum... onsite I'm getting cash, offsite (the feed) all I see is a bunch of 0's everyday ;)

However, now that I figured out why it didn't work on the first go, I get to try again for all my blogs!

Anyone actually making money from this?

I rest my case ;)

Blogs seem to have a much higher CTR than forums - so I guess it's worth a shot. I'd be curious to hear if an RSS feed off your blogs fares any better.

It would likely be a more interesting read if my blogs (combined) had the readership of my forum ;)

And to note, I've not that the time to implement it yet... will do soon (like next week). I just started a job as a cowboy, lol.
