Now THAT... is sleek, very nice, clean, love the hint of reflection on the bottom.
I like!
Well, you know where to come if you want that coded as the header for your new forum Joey... :)

How does it look as a Header?

Not as good. That big blank space sticks out.

that big blank space sticks out on any forum.
I really like it as a header Joey. Just too bad you can't fill in that blank space with either an ad banner or perhaps text links. But if not, eh, ok... I still like it!

Yeah, and I make fun of um all. Hell, I hate headers anyway. Necessary evil sometimes though. Gotta have branding.
I need to throw away mine and retool as well perhaps.

The only time the header really does look good is when it's centered, as mine is on the default style at EE. I've recently added a few more styles as my members were getting bored with the same one, lol.. and the title is off to the left.
IF I could EVER get that Kanoodle banner ad to work, I' might consider placing it up there, rather than under the shoutbox.

Yeah, very smooth. I'm with Peggy on this though. Why not centre it Joey?
You could always set up a couple of small ads either side if that's what you want to do.
Having said that, mate, my opinion probably don't carry much weight given my newness. The comment above is mere personal taste - but then I guess personal taste is what you asked for.

hey you! everyone's opinion counts around here so hush before I spank you.
As for Joey's banner, I don't think this particular one would look right centered, jmho.
sure does look sharp tho!

I like it, it looks good.. but I would put a banner ad on the right ;)
or move your navbar links up with it
I'd say a resounding... "leave it there" as it looks super, but put some new site navigation elements on the top right similar to what you have here. Ensure they are CSS buttons so no performance effects are seen, and use a complimentary style and colour for the buttons too - all that will make a vast improvement.
I 'see' a few half rounded rectangle buttons dropping down from the top right of the page
as making a huge improvement to an existing super look.
EDIT: a quick mock-up...

I was thinking the same thing, except with the tabs coming from the bottom, not the top

YESS!! the tabs fill that empty space nicely without detracting the eye from the header.
I like it... I like it ALOT!!
