Peggy 08-02-2006, 06:46 PM I have wasted an entire day on what SHOULD have been a simple webpage template design... 20 minutes TOPS... took me all friggin day!

Amazing how one little > can throw a whole damn page off
I've been there soooo many times. Once I cried.
Peggy 08-02-2006, 07:09 PM I've done that too.....
Hell³ 08-03-2006, 12:41 AM I once kicked a puppy...
wait... this is not the confessions thread is it?
;)
Peggy 08-03-2006, 01:08 AM It can be......... I'd like to hear what others do to relieve their frustration while designing, lol
Elsie 08-03-2006, 01:55 AM i keep it basic - that's my solution! ;)
(not that i've ever tried coding anything for vb!)
Shelley 08-03-2006, 03:23 AM I once kicked a puppy...

Tell me more.
You once kicked a puppy...... and it was hurled into orbit? the moon? towards the sun? heck, I just don't know but I want to know.
What happened to this pooor puppy?
Deejay Dan 08-03-2006, 05:26 AM When I get really frusterated with anything computerwise, I first curse like a sailor then turn off the monitor and take a walk. I haven't ventured into any advanced design stuff yet (coding vB CSS) but I get frusterated very easily with design stuff probably because I stink at it. :p
When I get mildly frusterated, I surf forums for a for a few minutes. As you can see, I spend a lot of time on forums. ;)
No kicking puppies for me though... just kittens :D

:p Awww poor pup!
Hell³ 08-03-2006, 09:38 AM Yeah but a very angry mom chased me like three blocks... take that for a frustration cleansing!... ;)
In all seriousness... invest some money in a little sandbag... a few punches go a long way in decompressing angryness...
Peggy 08-03-2006, 10:28 AM ha, I was at the store this morning and invested in a pair of "stress balls", one for each hand.
Get mad, angry or frustrated, take those babies in hand and sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze... ;)

Good idea! I'm going to Walmart today to pick up a pair. :p My husband bought me this fountain thing you plug up and the water goes up through the center and when the water hits it sounds like a stream (good for stress)...well, it's supposed to sound like a stream, but not to me. It makes me want to use the bathroom. ha! I never plug it up anymore.
Peggy 08-03-2006, 10:48 AM LOL Tanya, that's funny!
LOL Tanya, that's funny!
It's annoying...ever listen to one of those things? They usually have it setup and running in the Kmarts and Walmarts. lol
Peggy 08-03-2006, 11:19 AM keeps you in the store longer!!
yes I have one, and no I don't run it, LOL
Xhris 08-03-2006, 02:34 PM WOW some good advice in here. :)
I just save what I have designed and go do something else for about 30 minutes then come back to it and finish. Designing itself is it a great stress reliever. IMHO.
Peggy 08-03-2006, 02:37 PM See the thing for me is.... I can't save and walk away, cuz I'll lose my momentum. Once I get started on something, be it a style, a webpage set, a template... whatever... I have to stay with it. If I don't, it'll never get done.
so, I squeeze those balls and keep on goin'..... :p

I am the same way, and usually when I'm working on something in the background my Community can see what I'm doing because I work on my board live. Bad to do I know, but I don't know how to make a fake board. So for me, my stress levels rise when something isn't working right.

:Dlolol... I just knew one of the guys was going to say something.... :p

Tanya you're admin of your forum correct? Well, when you're doing a new style, you can set it so that the members can't see it while you're working on it, but you can see it at all times.
Just sayin'.......... ;)

Yes, not just working on styles but I was doing a Navbar edit once...screwed up and everybody started putting threads in the Report A Bug thread. I don't like messing up because I can't really deal well with the pressure.
I've taught myself to read everything carefully before making changes to anything because I don't have a test board.
Peggy 08-03-2006, 05:36 PM you really should set yourself up a test board.
at any rate, we have a shoutbox on our forum, and anytime I'm about to do something, I make an announcement in BOLD on it, so everyone sees it, lol ... and sometimes send out a mass PM as well

I don't know how to make a test board or a seperate page from my homepage and fourms page. *shrugs*
Peggy 08-03-2006, 06:00 PM ohh Locoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. ...
Coder1 08-03-2006, 08:09 PM http://www.alistapart.com/articles/throughthestorm
My problems aren't so much with conceptual issues. I have trouble getting started, but once started, I have trouble stopping. I'll dither around and procrastinate, "wasting" 2 or 3 days that should be spent coding, but then make a desultory start... and then wonder why my head hurts and my vision is blurring, because I've coded straight through without resting or eating for a day and a half.
Peggy 08-03-2006, 08:18 PM Yeah I've done that too. It's amazing how, when you get into something like this, time flies so fast.
