I have an idea... ill submit it here and if you think it is good ill maybe send it to google.

Heres the idea:

Basicly its google offering Hosting and Domain Names

Hosting would have of course categories as any other webhost provider, but free hosting will be supported by google adsense.

Domain Names would be exactly the same free would be supported by google adsense, i also think that google may offer domains such as .go or something like that ... and maybe top level domains.

This idea is because i think google would be a reliable hosting company.

if you want to add comments or complienments please post them and maybe we can reach an organized finished clean proposal to go to google.

You may think "dreaming is easy..." but really google is in the development phase building a "monopoly" and maybe google could consider it.

no way. Google is already too big for their britches. They don't need to add something else to the empire, they need to put their focus back on their search engine.

Google tries to register pretty much anything with the word google in it. So... it's not really a proof of anything but beign cautious with his trademark.

Right now I think the focus is in the web apps like the buy of writely, the release of the spreadsheets, and who knows? maybe they are working on something to compete with powerpoint already. The calendar is all I needed to get rid of outlook in my office PC.

I moved this to General Discussion - it isnt really about adsense...

Google is already offering Gmail hosted. I have two of my domains setup on it. Check it out:
http://www.google.com/hosted it's beta (as is everything with Google) but I signed up and got approved within 2 days. So far the service has been excellent, the spam filtering is awesome.

Google a webhost? Nah, as Peggy said they're already to big for their britches. If they really wanted to be a webhost they could just buyout GoDaddy and improve the service. I really wouldn't like the idea of Google having access to my logs.

It could be constued (sp?) as a conflict of interest too. How many people will think or say that hosting with Google give you better rankings?

The free domain is flawed idea is flawed. If the domain was free, most likely it would be registered by and owned by Google hence you don't really own the domain. That would definetly be a problem if you make it big and Google decides that want you to pay more for hosting and you don't want too. They own the domain so your SOL.

That being said if Google was to offer something like that I wouldn't have a problem pointing one of my domains at it DNS-wise. If Google starts screwing around I can just change my DNS setting.

On the other hand Google does offer pages (http://pages.google.com). It's sort of like the free websites (Geocities) but with a whole lot less ads. My pages site (http://bigdanee.googlepages.com/)

I picked up this link somewhere: Google's Growing list of Domains (http://www.pronetadvertising.com/articles/googles-growing-list-of-domains.html)
