Smart Blue skin

I have ported my smart blue skin to vB3.6 with few changes in color and icons...

customised the postbit legacy template, so if you are using this style then use the postbit legacy style to enhance your forums...

I have attached the updated xml-file for this style, pl download them along with the Smartblue zip and load the xml file from the updated zip only...


EDIT: Entire zip file has been updated to 3.6.5

I love this, and would like to use it on my forum. I am curious however, how can one obtain the fonts you have used in this skin? As well I am a little bit confused by the statment, "postbit legacy style to enhance your forums". Could you clarify?

Hi oz, welcome to vbFAQ.

The postbit legacy, as you probably already know, is the postbit that we use here, with the members' info to the left of the post.
What miner did was he enhanced it... or "prettied it up" a little bit. Look at his live demo and you'll see what I mean

You are using arabic version of vB and it needs lot of modifications to the design to make it work for arabic version...

I love this skin, and yes, I'm probably being completely dumb again, but VBShout box doesn't show? do I need to do something for that plugin to work with this skin?

Miner, is there a way to put a graphic/header in the gray area under the slogan/nav? So that the login and the home page link would show on top of the header I created? Hope that makes sense.

When I try to install this skin I get an error saying the xml was created with 3.6.0 but my vBulletin is 3.6.5. I copied the xml from update-xml.zip (dated august 22nd 2006, 9:16). Can I edit the smartblue.xml and just change the vbversion to "3.6.5"?

I've attached the newest version of this skin - 3.6.4. It was not upgraded to 3.6.5 because there were no templates edits from .4 to .5. When you import the .xml file, simply click the circle next to "ignore style version".

Thanks Peggy. One more question (ok 3) I'd like to change "Your Forums", the links and, "Your slogan here". I scanned the .xml and CP options but didn't seen a field for them. Is that something I'll need to edit in one of the server scripts?

That's a PSD file that you can change to your forum name in almost any graphics editing software. I don't have time to do it for you, but I suggest that you contact the designer of this skin, and request a matching header. He's usually very happy to do so.

CHIPIT this version is not updated to 3.6.7 as of yet. I suggest that you download it from miner's site.

i get nothing but question marks inside the page after i change it over on the forum index page. i put ignore for version, as i understand it's for 3.5, but i have 3.8(got it installed today). i did everything in the instructions(as short as it was), put the smart blue folder inside images>styles(had to create this folder) and then uploaded the xtml file in the styles manager. I checked the smart blue folder and all the footer/header info is there, so i'm really confused as to why it's not working. I know it said up top that it's not configured for 3.8 yet, but someone said that if you put ignore that it would still work.. well it's not...

any feedback will suffice.

Upload the image folder "smartblue" to your forums> images>styles> directory (ex: forum/images/styles/smartblue).????????????????????????

go to your forums "image" directory in the root of your forums server where you see folders like "admincp" and "includes"

go inside the "images" directory, if there is not a "styles" directory make one

then upload the "smartblue" folder inside the "styles" folder

need more in detail plz

what more details do you need?

Using your FTP program, login to your site via FTP
go to where your vBulletin is installed
find the images folder
open it
Create a styles folder
upload the Smart Blue folder into it

Then go to your Admin control panel on your forum
Go to Styles & Templates > Download/Upload styles.
On the right, where you see Import Style XML file, click browse, locate the xml file where you have it saved on your computer, and select it.
Select yes for Ignore Style Version, then click Import.

You have a new style.
