I signed up today with AdBrite. This isn't a "pay per click" company. You set up ad space on your site, and people pay to advertise on your site. YOU set the $ amt to charge per ad, you decide what kind of advertising can go on your site, what your target audience is, they list you in their directory, of course, for potential advertisers, etc.
I have it set up on my front page now, you can take a peek:
http://exquisitelyerotic.net/forums/index.php
the ads that are there now are stock advertising that AdBrite provides to fill up space when there's not an advertiser for that space. You'll see a link that says "Your ad here"... potential advertisers click on that to get info about advertising on your site.
I'm also going to place an ad space on my portal page.
I'll keep you updated on how it works out.

Pricing is a little high for that site, don't you think? $90 for a 1 month text link?

I'm not talking about putting an ad for my (your) site somewhere. AdBrite is a three-fold company.
1. you can pay to place an ad for your site on another site
2. you can sell ad space on your own site (this is where my interest is, and have already sold one ad!)
3. a referral program that pays you a %

I've been with them for almost a week and have earned $21. However I won't get a check until I earn $50, which is fine with me

kewl!
see... you can set your own price, what you'll charge people or companies for the space to advertise on your site. You also fill out a list of what kind of products and services you're willing to sell on your site. AdBrite takes care of the rest. You're added to a directory of add space sellers along with all pertinent information, and you wait for someone to buy ad space on your site.
You have a choice of vertical or horizontal ads and you can display 3 or 5 ads at a time, your choice. You pick and they provide you with the html code to add to your vb template.
If you need any help, just holler

Thanks for the reminder Peggy!
I have a small area at the bottom of my forum (http://www.salespractice.com/forums/) that I set up for adspace and never got around to doing anything... until now. :D
The placement isn't the best but for now it will have to do. ;)

You can set that to $25 if you want...
just so you know guys adbrite's first check comes after about 3 months

Mean time you should opt for their network ads... its just like ppc... you don't get too many relevant adds... but better than nothing

Eh they were so - so. They never really went anywhere, so I don't use them anymore.
I'll never use adbrite/avnads or any affilate of them. I had almost 350 in my account built up over a month, and all of a sudden my account was axed and no one had an answer or any information for my account no matter who i talked to or when.
Man i'm still steaming about that
