EZ Archive Plugin - Ads in your vBulletin Archive 3.5.4 and up

This plugin gives you alot of control over your archive, and also gives you that control via the Admin CP. Noppid and I saw a need for this hack, We hope its helpful for you.

For vBulletin 3.54 and later versions....

This plugin allows you to:

Easily place your forum Banner in your ARCHIVE
Place Google Adsense, YPN or almost any other kind of ad system in your archive;
Allows you to turn ads on and off via the Admin CP;
Allows you to have ads on the Top, Bottom, Left or Right of the archive;
Ads H1 Tags to your archive (for Better SEO);
Allows easy input of Digital Point Free Coop Ads (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/?s=492);No Code Changes, Just a Product!

EXAMPLE: vBulletin FAQ Archive (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/archive/index.php/)


Why Should you Enhance your Archive?

Its a good idea to have your archive active because search engines seem to more readily index the vBulletin archive then the regular threads. This helps bring visitors to your forum and some of them will become members.

This hack allows you to easily add your website banner to the plain archive as well as ads. This makes your archive look a little nicer and more attractive to users.

Placing adsense ads in the archive can be quite profitable as well. I have earned as much as $100 in a month just form the adsense ads in my archive.


Installation Instructions:

Download the product
In your Admin CP, go to Plugin System > Manage Products > Add/Import Product
Import the productThats it!


Using the EZ Archive Ads System

You will find the control panel for the EZ Archive Ads System in your Admin CP under vBulletin Options.

There are several settings in the control panel. You can turn each ad on or off, center, left or right justify them, and add whatever HTML code you like.

Our Recommendations


Place a small banner in the Top Banner position. Such as a 468x60 banner. This should be for your site. I strongly recommend you use a small image (in bytes). You can also choose Right, Left or Center Justify for this banner, depending on your needs and preferences.

The code you would use should look like this:

Notice the ALT tag. in my example it is alt="vBulletin" You want to use a word or phrase that is pertinant to your forum. If you have a forum about the Ford Mustang, then you might put in FORD MUSTANG FORUM, or something like that.

You can also add text in here if you like. Just ad <br /> after the image code and then put your text after that. Something like this might be appropriate:

Placing your Adsense or other ads

Now, the 4 ad choices that follow.

Header Ad
Left Ad
Right Ad
Footer Ad

These all work basically the same as above. Just copy your adsense code for size ad you wish to use and paste it in the corresponding box. For the left and right ads you can manually change the width of ads if you need to. Default is set at 120.



Finally, if you use the Digital Point Free COOP (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/?s=492) (recommended) - Put your coop code in the appropriate box. It should look something like: ad_network_201.php

The default for the coop is off. I forgot to test with ours off and DP on. Does it still put out XHTML proper code? Does it work as expected the way you are using it?

You are running our hook for the dp coop and the dp coop hook or your own coop hook. Turn off all the hooks for the dp coop ads that you have installed and then turn only one on. Preferrably the one in ez archive.

In EZ archive the dp coop is off by default. However, we forgot to document or point out that you should turn off the DP coop supplied hook or not turn on the DP coop code in EZ archive.

If you use the coop ad part of EZ archive, you can centralize your control of the archive and be guaranteed the base code is XHTML verified. I have to look at the archive with the EZ archive coop code off and the original DP coop code on and verify that we are not breaking the HTML. In which case if we are, the simple solution is to use the DP coop code part of EZ archive and turn off the DP coop supplied hook.

We can not guess what is wrong and by support what do you mean? So far you have said this don't work and showed us a URL where the product was not installed. How can I provide support for that?

What are you talking about the product was not installed? Maybe if you went to the URL and did not see any changes in my archives are is because this product isnt working correctly for me not that it is not installed. If you look several posts above I have listed all the hacks I have and this hack is installed.

And all of that means absolutly nothing to us. If you let someone look at you ACP we can fix it.

I'm not going to beg you to allow me to work on your forum for free. People with less experience then you have installed this successfully. But that's not to say you can't do it. I'm saying it works, you probably installed it fine, but, it seems to conflict with another hack you have.

Unless I get into your forum, we'll never know.

sweetheart if you think that support is so great at vb.org, you've had MUCH better success than most of the rest of us ;)

The offer has been made, three times that I know of, to look in your acp and figure out the problem. That's the only way to do it, obviously, or we wouldn't have said so. Trust me, NOONE here has the time or desire to go into anyone else's acp, but he's willing to help YOU out. So the ball is in your court.

Yes - vBulletin changed the archive with 3.54 and it runs differently then in 3.53 and prior. That is part of why this hack came about, and why it only works for 3.54.

For those who havent upgraded, you should do so. it really is much easier today with products and hooks then it was before them.

We chose to change that because the phrase is noise and we wanted to increase the value of the associted link. However, if you want that back, we can show ya the edits to apply and have it. It won't hurt much, it's not a show stopper and may be of more value to people.

Not only that, but you can add text to your archive with this hack as well. IN our archive here, just below the logo banner, it says


"Thank you for visiting. This is our website archive. Please visit our main website by clicking the banner above."


To do this, in the box for the EZ Archive Banner Code, we placed the code for the logo image, then added a <br /> and then palced the text. You can do this yourself and add any text you like.

I'm having problems getting my Google Adsense to show up in the archive of my forum located at http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/archive/ I installed the plugin (Product) via vbulletin admin panel and then went and added the google adsense code to it and clicked save. Still not showing up. Does it not work with 3.0?

3.0 does not have plugins and the archive was changed in 3.5.4. Then this hack was done for 3.5.4 and up.

no, i just don't like the 2 links at the base and archive wide, for what I was making off the archive links..they said, that would be fixed in the next release, maybe I'll try it then..


BTW. all outgoing links have nofollow, so no, I'm definitely not stressing about PR leak ;)

After reading everything really good, I noticed that it works only in 3.54 and higher..

Adsense TOS states only 3 content targeted ad blocks per page.. You have 4. Just letting you know. :)

I'm not sure.. there is the image only banner at the top (this counts), then the left and the bottom. I didn't think the horizontal links or "Link Unit" counts in that.

but from an aesthetic point of view perhaps it is too much?

I am having a slight problem with the mod or with Internet Explorer 7.

I installed it, activated both the mod and the individual ad spots. I have seen the ads viewing with IE7 but it seems they come and go. I have used two separate systems to view the site so I don't believe it's a cache problem and I cleared it out anyway.

With FF I see the ads all of the time.

Any suggestions?

Ok I did as instructed, with mostly the same results.

Google Ads = NO Display in IE7 with error on page.

Burst Ads = NO Display in IE7 with error on page.

Casale Media Ads = NO Display with error on page.

ValueClick Media Ads = Display with NO errors.

All ad formats worked in FireFox, only ValueClick Media worked in both browsers.

Kinda at a loss.... I did have Google Ads on the archive pages before with a different mod but liked this one better, thought it would be easier to edit when needed.

Its got to be something on your end -- I see ads fine in IE7 for a number of sites

A plug-in "Search Text Highlighting" was causing the problem.

I know I can limit stuff in vb regullar pages with conditional: <if condition="$GLOBALS[forumid] == 15"> baner.... </if>

But this doesnt work in archive. Is there any chance to do it?

It was a collaboration between us, My idea but Noppid did all the coding.

When the new vB comes out, if it breaks the existing code, I'll update it.

But, I don't see any new features getting added at this time.

Used to be for a nice hack like this, people would be glad to use your free hack and give you at lease one back link.

Now a days, the first question asked is, "can I remove your link?" As a result, I lost interest in creating "free" hacks.

Great thanks. yes, the ads are tactfully placed above, above (the link ads), on the left, on the bottom, and the search box on the right. About the only place the ads are not is in the middle. Not sure how it looks on small screens though, I have a wide screen.
