I know, kids. I'm scared too...

But after getting fed up with phpBB, and then switching to SMF but running into way too many database issues and crashes, I finally converted my Psychlinks Psychology and Self-Help Forum (http://forum.psychlinks.ca) to vB 3.6.

Expect me here a lot for a while

That's a complicated Admin CP when you first see it

SUCKER!

Dont be scared. Its actually pretty logically set up - My best advice, is to explore it. Look at everything so your familiar. But its not as daunting as it looks.

Joey's right, it's not. THIS coming from someone who nearly fainted when I had my first look at the admn CP ;)

I didn't think it was that bad. The part that got me upset was the Style & Templates section.

LOL... that can do it, no doubt about that

Before I manage to ban myself, I just set myself to "undeletable/unalterable" in config.php

I did this and now I can't make changes to my account at all.

To make changes, just edit your user ID in config.php, upload the file to your server, then make the changes to your profile, then re-edit config.php to set it back on "safety" and re-upload.

I just finished doing all that this morning. :D

I will make a copy of it and play with it first. If I have questions...are you the one I come to for the answers?? :p Say yes.

One big thing to keep in mind coming from phpBB... Rememeber all the times you went into the source to make a change? Then had to find the right template and make a change there? You don't have to do any of that anymore. Pretty much everything you need to do can be done with plug-ins and with the style editor.

I've been using vBulletin for quite some time now and had to go back and make a change to one of my phpBB sites. It sucked, I hated every second of it. I wound up deleting it and will be replacing it shortly with (yet another) vBulletin site.

Damn Joey.

Sadly, after my last post (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11970&postcount=19) in this thread (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1709) I fear I may be branded a geek anyway.
