www.php.net
If you know another language, you can get up to speed fast. If not, there are tons of free ways to learn php. However, you have to learn the ins and outs of programming in general. PHP is a bit tougher to learn because of the fact it's not a console and requires HTML for the output.
You can do it, just give it time. My advice is to look at existing hacks and see what you can garner from reading them. But again, it can be done for free. Some people like books, so budget 50 to 100 bucks for that.
Have fun and feel free to ask for help anytime.
Good luck

ha me too!
noppid 08-30-2006, 11:53 AM I kinda used the term depends on HTML loosely. You don't need to output HTML. Plain text is fine. But when building a website, it's necessary to understand, you have to create the HTML for php to output. PHP programming has nothing to do with making the actual web page. PHP's job is to get the data, sort it and then allow you to plug that data into the appropreate place in the HTML so the data makes sense and the HTML organizes it for the the user in a usable or understandable format.

My DH said something like that. He is teaching himself PHP right now.

lol.. you're light years ahead of me. I have no idea how to use PS cs2 even tho I have it
Hell³ 08-31-2006, 02:44 PM I recommend you the Photoshop 7 WOW! Book. You won't have the latest gizmos of CS/CS2 but for learning good PS techniques it's a great book. I don't think there is an updated edition yet, but you might want to check your local bookstore.
For learning the basics I believe the Sam's teach yourself Adobe Photoshop in 24 hours is great to quickly learn the ropes.
protoss 08-31-2006, 03:01 PM If I were younger Hell³, I'd go for the extra learning, gawd the sites I visit for tips. It's a question of time. Not enough. Learning at my age, it err, takes a bit longer to sink in, does for me. I'll stick to fumbling my way through CS2. It works .
Peggy 08-31-2006, 03:03 PM hush pro... you're only a couple of years older than me. You're making me feel senile :o
protoss 08-31-2006, 03:06 PM I hope he enjoys it . :D
Hell³ 08-31-2006, 03:43 PM I'm just a bit younger than both of you and I don't have the time either, I could browse all day around the tutorial and tips sites, or the online help, and not find the kind of info this two books have. Time and life savers I tell you.
And for the record, I enjoyed it. *ducks and runs FAST*

Shelley 09-01-2006, 08:25 PM Anyone wanting to learn photoshop should definetely give this Photoshop Tutorial Resource (http://www.heathrowe.com/) a visit. Not only will it save you money, this guy goes into great detail on how the Tools & Features are best used.
If it's graphic construction you are wanting to learn this is defientely the site for you with the added bonus that anything you learn can be ported over to any styling projects you may start.
Peggy 09-04-2006, 07:41 AM hmmm I've been to this site, and read through his tutorials. Seems his tuts are geared more towards intermediate-level PS users.
I'm more at the very beginning/basic skill level for PS. I've been using Paint Shop Pro for years, PS is soooooooooooo different.
