I'm having a problem with this, naturally.

I have everything installed and uploaded where the instructions say to, ran the installation script, everything is there in my ACP. I entered the forum path in the cmps_index.php file to read '/home/exquisi/public_html/forums'
The instructions said to change the name of the cmps_index.php to index.php so I did.
But when I typed the url to the portal page in my browser I got this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: print_portal_output() in /home/exquisi/public_html/index.php on line 44

what does that mean?

You overwrote the vb forumhome index.php perhaps?

If vba and vB are in the same folder, the vba index file needs to be portal.php for instance.

If that is not the case, you forgot to tell vba, in the proper field, cmsp_index.php in not the file to use, but rather index.php.

Or the product for the includes is not istalled or active.

Or the path is wrong.

did you put the cmps_index.php file in the forums folder or under public_html - it should be in public_html before you change it to index.php

the instructions said to put it in the public_html so that's where I put it. I never had it in the forums directory

go through the instructions again - line by line - and make sure your doing it right.

ok, the cmps_index.php (now re-named index.php) file is in my public_html directory. Everything else is in the appropriate folder in the forums directory. Ran the installation script without a hitch.

Everything shows up in my admincp, I just cant get to it when I point my browser to it.
so odd

The username is usually 8 characters, not 7. Try "'/home/exquisit/public_html/forums'"

Duh. Sorry, I should've read your thread before replying.

There's some info in this thread about it: http://www.vbadvanced.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15100

Hey Peggy... I am just about to go off to bed but am away from home tomorrow evening in an hotel. I may have a business dinner with a client and might not be available, but do shoot me a PM if you want me to take a look for you if I am not.

Tell me... why did you have to reinstall cmps?

When I installed it, I had no problem. HOWEVER, there was a helper PHP program that you could install and hit, and it would report back to you the exact path you needed to enter in the config. Did you do that?

I uninstalled it when the modules quit working and I couldn't get any support at vba for 9 days. I tried drupal but that program is a P.I.T.A.
So I'm trying to try vba cmps again, IF I can get it to work, lol

thanks for the offer John, but I'm determined to get this to work if I have to stay up all night to do it. So hopefully it'll be working before you'd have a chance to look.

thanks hunny

yes I did... it comes with the upgraded version of vba cmps. I installed and ran it and it gave me the exact forum path to enter in the cmps_index.php file. That's how I know that the forum path is correct. And with the cmps_index.php file in the public_html directory, why I keep getting an error when I point my browser to http://exquisitelyerotic.net/cmps_index.php is beyond me

thanks Thomas... the instructions don't say the first thing about having to edit the global.php
Seriously, I've read them 4 times today and not a word. Going to try that now.

umm.. just a thought... shouldn't this be showing up in my Products in the plugin system? I mean, I've uploaded the thing 3 times.. and it's not there

at any rate I followed all of those directions and still get this:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: print_portal_output() in /home/exquisi/public_html/cmps_index.php on line 44

When I get the kids to bed, we'll work on it. I mean rip it out by the roots and start over. Be patient. About one hour.

Peggy

I ripped it out alright... there's not a sign of vba_cmps on my site, lol

THANK YOU noppid, for your help and encouragement. It is much appreciated.
love ya sweetie ;)

thank you to everyone else who tried to help as well.
it's up and running.

The problem wasn't with me or vba... everything was where it was supposed to be. It was a redirect that I didn't know was there  pshaw
