I love games, in fact, my home is filled with unusual games I've picked up on my travels. I particularly love hand-crafted games, as well as strategy games.
One of the best strategy games I've ever found is a German game called "Settlers of Catan". It's a bit hard to find, and it's expensive, but well worth the effort and expense to obtain it.
It's a "resource" game, very similar in concept to the computer games such as Civilization or Age of Empires. However, there is no warfare, and it's played on a very unique board. Each resource type is represented by a hexagonal tile. The board is essentially "delt out" each time, making the layout and possible strategies differ from game to game.
I've also found a fantasic online Settlers community, formed around a free game client - a fantastic coding job! Join www.s3dconnector.net, download the client, and you're ready to play. I use the same nick there as here, so feel free to drop me a PM there when/if you decide to try it; I'd be happy to host a game to walk you through how to play it.
