Using a sidebar

What would you put in a sidebar besides ads?

Anybody have any good links to designs with a great sidebar?


I really want to move to a 100% wide forum vs the 92% I am at right now. I figure that 8% more in space is easily enough for a sidebar. Thus giving me 8% sidebar while still have my forum at 92% wide. It makes sense, just re-read that.

Anyways. HEEELP

you could do anything with a sidebar - announcements, advertisments, rss, navigation - whatever.

Navigation and adsense is what I'd be placing there.

Do you have calendar events that your topic looks forward to? I have a cool countdown hack that would look cool there maybe.

In my development site, where i am testing out design aspects, i have included navigation, login/pm info, ads, relative news, hot discussions, recent discussions, a shoutbox, and a mini calendar. These are of course not all shown at once but it is displayed upon which page you are viewing. i also placed my sidebar on the right side so it doesnt disturb those viewing from the page's main content.

I didnt see the countdown hack... someone point me in the right direction?

valdeztke, this thread is over 1 1/2 years old, lol. You'll find the hack at vb.org but I don't know if it'll work on 3.6 or not
