I wanted to get the opinions of the member base here - what's your take on buying links on other sites/forums for promoting your forum?

Link Buying - Forum Promotion - Your ThoughtsGuyFromChicago 01-14-2005, 07:06 AM I wanted to get the opinions of the member base here - what's your take on buying links on other sites/forums for promoting your forum? noppid 01-14-2005, 08:28 AM People seem to have some level of success with it or they wouldn't be doing it I'd guess. I have not seen an opportunity I'm interested in yet though. rex_B 01-14-2005, 09:40 AM I've done it in the past but I think you really have to be in it for the long haul. Like atleast a year to see really good results. IMO Joeychgo 01-14-2005, 04:42 PM It all depends on who you are - If you are a company who puts together a website as an addition to your normal business, and dont have the time to dedicate to getting link exchanges, then maybe its worthwhile. If your someone who has the time to go about trading links - thats free and I believe just as effective. People want too much for links IMO. If they were cheaper, then maybe. I dont think I would bother for anything less then a pr 7. noppid 01-14-2005, 05:16 PM I Don't even look at the PR, I think it's over rated and I'll be damned if I'm gonna base how successful my site is on google alone. Google is not very good to me, however I'm number one on MSN and yahoo for some of my keywords. I just think too many people are too hung up on google. Used to be google was the place to go for content, now it's the place to find the highest bidder on keywords. I'm very conflicted about all the google blind loyalty. Most lay folks I talk to go to yahoo and msn. I'm not looking to debate this, if you feel differently that's great too. My point is there are pr0-3 sites with hundreds of members and traffic that are worth advertising with for the $20 or so they want. I don't agree with the link exchanges because you simple don't get enough folks involved that have a common topic and when you do you are just competing with each other IMO. rex_B 01-15-2005, 09:17 AM Google sends me 90% of my traffic. I have to worry about them, no matter what my personal feeling is about them. :( Joeychgo 01-15-2005, 08:29 PM exactly my thought. Those with the gold, make the rules Antonbomb22 01-16-2005, 03:18 PM I don't believe in link buying personally as there as tons of places to get your links posted on sites for free. However if you feel a urgency to acquire alot of backlinks then purchasing links may be the right thing for you to do. | |
