Personally, I think e-mail address validation is a pain - both from a user and administrative point of view. I shut off the e-mail validation system on my vBulletin boards.
What are your thoughts on the e-mail validation system in vBulletin? Do you use it? Why or why not?

I hate it also. But I think it is a very good tool once you get a really big forum. B/c then your not worried so much about stats.

Do you think e-mail validation will prevent scripts from registering hundreds of names on your boards?

I'm not sure. I've never had any problems with that since vBulletin has the image verfication as part of registration.

Yes it will. Thats one of those things you dont think much about or give much credibility to until it happens to you.
It also helps when you want to email everyone to announce something. I use the community bulletin hack and email a newsletter evert 10 days - 2 weeks - Doing this sparks people who havent visited for awhile to return to the site. It also is a nice features members seem to like.
