Loco.M 04-09-2006, 02:05 AM www.link2share.com
this is my site, I've had it over a year, haven't really been doing anything with it until now. I have featured links that can be placed on upper lever (for a small charge) categories as long as that section is available.
we have free links, with the exception that you must provide a link back to Link2Share.
some of the things I've recently and soon to update are
Alexa thumbnails next to descriptions
rss feeds posted if the website broadcast them
Going to do some more work on back links and general SEO
the sites gets just under 600 uniques a month, and very few of them are me, I've been working on another project and haven't had time to mess with this..
I know I have a list of other things I'll do to the site,, mess with the css to change up the style, I'm seriously thinking about adding an article script to it, in fact I'm about 90% sure that I will in the near future..
so, anyways add your sites please, use the PR to your advantage ;)
ps. I apologize to those who have seen me make this thread on all the other sites,, just trying to get everyone to join up.
mikelbeck 04-09-2006, 07:15 AM I tried to add my site, but it seems to require a reciprocal link?
Loco.M 04-09-2006, 01:56 PM yes, we do ask a link back, but I'm thinking about dropping the link back for one week, to fill the directory up,, so please try again :) I'll drop the link back for a few days
mikelbeck 04-09-2006, 08:20 PM Submitted mine. Thanks!
Loco.M 04-09-2006, 09:37 PM np, thank you :)
Peggy 04-09-2006, 09:53 PM I'm so there... :)
that is a real nice links directory. Shame that to buy it you need a Debit Card which I stay well away from ;-(
I got a website on lancashireweb.co.uk which I want to use as a directory of websites in my local county of erm.......lancashire and that would have done nicely.
Tried the free directory that vbfaq use, but it's a pain in the a** and cocks up.

are you talking about this (http://www.vbulletin-faq.com/lma/directory/) one Neal? What kind of problem are you having with it?

Yeah, it's very good but it looks like it's my fault as the account I use with Paypal is empty, need to put money in I think as a payment failed :( Will get that directory I think.

It installed fine and I managed to set it all up, but I can't be bothered with all the HTML stuff, forgot most of it with using vBulletin. Trying to get it to look nice, need to sit down and think about it. I also get a blank white page at times and i've tried the fixes on their forums. Anyone fancy having a go? :D

oh ya, if the account is empty, there isn't much I can do to help :p
L2S offers free submissions too ;)
Sonnie 08-03-2006, 10:46 PM Hey Loco... our PR is 3 right now, but I'd like to get it up. It looks like your front page submission is pretty cheap, but you really don't have a category for home theater or audio/video.
Would it benefit me to submit with you? If we can get a category and it would help me, I'll pay the fee to get listed on the front. Anything to help us improve our visibility.
This seems to be the problem in most directories that I try to add too... no category for us.
Loco.M 08-03-2006, 10:48 PM I'll add an audio/video right now :)
and featured submission have been kinda slow lately, it's likely that you'll be on the front for several months
um.. give me a min on that*
Peggy 08-03-2006, 10:53 PM This seems to be the problem in most directories that I try to add too... no category for us.HA! I know how you feel. Trying to find quality directories that will allow you to add an adult (not porn) site is like pulling sharks' teeth.
Loco.M 08-03-2006, 11:03 PM there ya go, i swear sometimes when i touch my sites they just break :(
either way, its fixed and a section for you if you still want
http://www.link2share.com/Home/audio_video/
there, got it in the right spot now :p
maybe thats a sign I sould go to sleep..lol
Peggy 08-03-2006, 11:10 PM No it's not, Miner needs your help. ;)
Loco.M 08-03-2006, 11:15 PM i answered him :) I need his help too :p
Big Dan 08-04-2006, 02:53 AM Loco nice site.. I'll be adding a couple of mine later on. Once I upgrade to vB 3.6. Placing the link back in the footer is okay right?
Edit:
I do have one suggestion though. How about a tagging system of sorts? Most sites could fit into more than one category. You could say give sites a first, secondary, and theiadary (sp?) category to chose from and give them a different weight. It would help fill your categories faster too. Links with say with a primary category of computer help would appear at the top & links with a thridary (sp?) category would appear at the bottom.
You could even add premium features where paid links would get their first & second category on the top of each list for a fee. ;)
That would probably be a huge undertaking on the backend but it's just an idea.
Sonnie 08-05-2006, 12:28 AM I'll get our link added tomorrow... I'm close to toast for tonight. Just got finished watching two movies in the home theater room... eyes are getting really heavy.
Thanks for adding that section.
Sonnie 08-05-2006, 11:53 AM I got it listed Loco.
We may try to figure out some way to add small banners to the footer area of our front page once we upgrade. If I can make it look okay then we'll also provide a link for you.
Loco.M 08-05-2006, 12:37 PM cool :)
I just approved it, and went to alexa and requested a updated thumbnail :)

Sarah has her Top 100 vBulletin Forums directory set up that way. You can request to be placed into more than one category if there are other categories that fit your site.
Where do I put the reciprocal link in on my website? Also, my website doesn't fit in Shopping, but it fits in Weddings...it doesn't quite fit in Society, but it fits in Women. How do I go about submitting my link?
Peggy 08-10-2006, 04:00 PM See this is another situation where being able to submit to more than one category would be good.
However... Tanya, under which category do you think more women (and men probably) would see your listing?
MY guess would be society/women. BUT your site is specifically about weddings.. so probably should go there.
lol... guess I didn't help much that time eh?
I've been putting it in Shopping, Weddings...oh well. Anybody know where I put the reciprocal link (do I put where my google adsense is ?).
Peggy 08-10-2006, 05:53 PM some people put the links on a links page, others put them at the bottom of the forumhome page, beneath the footer.

OK thanks!
Peggy 08-10-2006, 09:26 PM If you choose to put them beneath the vb copyright info on the forum home page, that would be the footer template. I put mine underneath the crom image code, and the copyright text code, like so:
<div class="smallfont" align="center">
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$cronimage
<!-- Do not remove $cronimage or your scheduled tasks will cease to function -->
$vboptions[copyrighttext]
<br /><br />:: <b>LINKS</b> ::
<BR />
<a href= "http://www.top100vBulletin.com/" > Top 100 vBulletin Forums </a>
</div>
Sonnie 08-10-2006, 10:20 PM Hey Peggy... I like your idea. I was thinking banners, but text links would work just as well to get someone linked on the main forum page. That pretty much solves my coming up with an idea... thanks!
WoodiE55 08-11-2006, 08:02 AM Loco.M,
Nice directory - I've submitted a few sites of mine as well.

thanks, i just approved all of the quality submission :)
I'm getting frustrated. The reciprocal field is giving me problems. It says that the link is not found on my site and it is there...right on the front page on the right! What is the problem? Am I doing something wrong?
