Wish I asked for a forum when I was just 7yrs old..

Ok, times are certainly 'a changing eh!!

Having seen me, my wife and my son have their own vB sites, my 7yr old daughter Heather has been on to me for some time now for her own www site where she can chat with her mates, put stuff up about Bratz (dolls), Barbie (more dolls) and Taekwon-Do (martial arts - she's one belt off black belt).

So, I decided to make an investment and get her a nice domain name... one that she could keep and use for many years to come, as well as a nice owned vB license. This is all set up and running now, but is lacking that one thing - a bright, pretty, girlie type style. Now, I certainly don't want to spend too much on a bespoke theme (not that you could get much for less than $100 now though), but I am wondering if anyone here knows where I might get what looks like a pretty girlie type theme for vB... one that would be suitable for a 7 yr old (who is going on 14!!)

If anyone knows or could suggest which style might do, or perhaps could offer help and advice as to what I could do to an existing vB theme to make it suitable for a 7yr old and her friends, I'd be very grateful for your ideas. I am not good at all in the design field and would appreciate any help I can get.

I might even have a contest over on Sitepoint for a new header, logo and button set as long as I can find an appropriate theme to use it on, and then of course someone to help me pretty it up and make it look something like a kids site should look.

I have asked this here first in the hope that you folks might point me in the right direction. Here's hoping eh...

I'm scared ****less of how good the competition must be from this generation... They're gonna have it all under the skin, plus they start working at the age of 7... heelp :)

PS: My 2 year old son is desperately trying to write me a letter on the 2nd pc everytime I sit here typing away with my back turned at him... They get so inspired from others, the little copycats :)

Sure Miko... but she's not going to be running the site; I will get Lloyd (my son) to help her out there. She just wants to be able to post to her mates and see pics of Bratz, Barbie et al...:)

I do agree though, kids nowadays will get a superb head start on what we had when we were there age.

My 5 year olds can identify any piece of computer hardware on sight and tell you what it's for. I am sooooo going to be in trouble when they start learning software! I'll have to take special classes just to keep up with them!

Here's an update for you...

I haven't officially launched this for Heather just yet, but I have set up a new vB skin etc and would like your thoughts as to what you think it looks like. I have modded the vBA Portal page considerably to match the main style used on the forum.

If you get a chance, please take a peek and let me know if there's anything I shoudl change before I start removing the test data and adding suitable content for her.

Yeah sorry, I have used Heathers license temporarily for another vB site and I needed to keep what was there until I can reopen it. So in accordance with the license I htaccess protected it.

Sorry
