Peggy 03-11-2006, 10:37 AM How important do you think it is to use various fun 'features' such as an arcade, or the new eBux/eStore, or a journal, or photo gallery, etc.
I know that members like them... but do you think they are important? Would your members stay without them? How often are they used on your site?
Even more important... do you think that they are an actual 'draw' for new members? In other words, do you think that people join your site because of these features?Or do they join for the content, and the add-ons are just a bonus?
Opinions?
Joeychgo 03-11-2006, 12:25 PM I think it all depends on the type of forum. But I also think about it like this. Its kind of like the styling parts on your car. The wood trim on the dash, the chrome wheels, the tachometer, etc. None of which are necessary, but having them completes the car and makes it comfy.
Peggy 03-13-2006, 11:49 AM Sort of like the #8 in NASCAR is just another race car until Dale Jr gets behind the wheel? http://www.exquisitelyerotic.net/forums/images/smilies/frog.gif

And then it's just another car again when he bounces off the wall.
:D

or when someone pushes him off the track.....
Joeychgo 03-14-2006, 06:20 AM Hacks help create an atmospere. So does the style/skin you have chosen.
However, I caution against having TOO much. You dont want a forum that seems cluttered.
Peggy 03-14-2006, 06:31 AM Yeah I agree with that.
BamaStangGuy 03-22-2006, 03:38 AM I didn't add my arcade till I had over 250,000 posts and even then it is only open to supporting members.
SEO Pirate 03-24-2006, 11:41 AM With our forum we don't have any "fun" features such as an arcade, photo gallery, etc. I've thought about it and asked myself many of the same questions that you've posed. In the end I decided that based on our topic/theme that the ROI wasn't there.
Joeychgo 03-24-2006, 12:01 PM Not only that - but it doesnt serve your tye of member....
SEO Pirate 03-24-2006, 12:11 PM Not only that - but it doesnt serve your tye of member....Exactly! ;)
Peggy 03-24-2006, 12:22 PM Yes I can see what you mean
Danecookie 05-10-2006, 07:15 AM yes my members always are asking for new fun features etc..
Peggy 05-10-2006, 11:08 AM well, there are plenty of them... photo gallery, arcade, vbBux/vbstore, which is now integrated with the ibPro arcade. Alot of fun

ummm no, I posted there just a couple of days ago and my question was answered the same day. Make sure that you are posting your question in the premium forum and not the original thread. The link to the premium forum is in the original post that offers the download
scottct1 06-26-2006, 12:02 PM My biggest hack which keeps people coming back is the Arcade Hack. Folks will stop by and play some games even if they dont feel like talking. :)
FLMom 06-26-2006, 12:22 PM I think all of the "extra's" make my kind of site more fun and is definitely needed. Parents always need a break from real life and I think having my arcade and the vbplaza, etc. help them to do that. They get to have a much needed time out to play and have fun, then they can go back to being great parents :D
Peggy 06-26-2006, 06:14 PM I agree Cori. My site is alot like that. An adult site, granted, but people use it to de-stress.
Hey, why don't you place a link to your site in your signature?
FLMom 06-26-2006, 08:09 PM hehe I never thought too, but will now :o
