MySQL DB size didn't change after deleting forums

I have a vB site that I had the NNTP hack on. I had a ton of posts in the Newsgroup forums. I decided to delete those forums. I didn't purge the posts first. I went into the Forum Manager and just deleted the forums from there.

Before I had the newsgroups, my database was maybe 10 Mb (VERY small), and with the newsgroups it was over 500 Mb. After deleting those forums, the database size is still over 500 Mb.

I have updated the counters and ran the Optimize/Repair in AdminCP...still the same size.

When I Update Threads, it still cycles through a TON of threads (mostly ones that were probably from the Newsgroups).

Any ideas on how I can get my database size back down to normal since I don't have those forums anymore?

The records are flagged as deleted, not physically gone. Run your DB optimization tools to clean it up and that should remove the deleted records and free the space.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I finally found a post on vB.com about it.

It's Remove Orphan Threads & Posts under Update Counters.

the Repair/Optimize option doesn't do anything.

vB garbage is different from what I described, glad it woked out.
