mounting a forum

Hi
I've been starting to work on a forum in my website and I'd like to ask you some advice...
I guess I should have some active users before putting it online, right?
but how can I do that if it's not online yet? :confused:
another thing...I will start with just 1 forum as I wont have a lot of users in the beginning and add new topics later on, do u think it's a good idea?

Invite a few friends to help you get it started. Another thing you can do, is make a few usernames for yourself and use the various names to post.
