Well here is something a new moderator has to learn, how to move and delete threads in vBulletin.

Can you guys give us dummies some lessons on how to moderate using vBulletin in this thread.

Thanks from a dummy

Never delete. Move and split threads to a private forum for later use if needed.

You use the thread tools drop down menu to access the controls.

Does that mean you have to create private forums first

They are not there by default are they Noppid

Give the readers an example or a how to so folks can understand....

Do you have any screen shots

Well using usergroup permission you setup a few forums that can't be seen by the public at all.

One for talking business and one for storing crap.

So you create a forum and then set the group permissions so that only mods, supermods and admins can see it.

I'm not keen on password protected forums. It only takes one person sharing the password in some cases to mess it up. I never use it myself, yet.

Here's how my computer forum shows the staff forums.

First is member/guest view. Second is Mod/super mod view. The third view is admin.

I always have a "trash" forum accessible only by moderators - and instead of deleteing - posts are moved to there.
