One of my members is having a problem staying logged in. This is the message he sent me late last night:

Unable to log in. I can get onto certain threads .. as a guest but, each time I put the user name and password in, I get the dialogue box thanking me for logging in, click here if your browser doesn't redirect you then BANG ... back to log in

Then received this from his this morning:

It's still doing it babe ................ I can view the forum as a guest of course. I logged in and got the confirmation page that I was logged in. then I go to the I what are you craving thread and try to post or reply, and get a message that I need to register if I wish to make any posts or replies, and sure enough, I'm logged out, viewing as a guest only!

does anyone have any clue as to what the problem could be? I have to go to work so this poor guy, a very active member, won't be able to get on the forum today.

What page is he logging in on? I have an idea what it may be. I'll go test my theory.

I figured it out. You are not using the www in your links to your site. However, we told you you should and now you do. So, when someonegets to the site, they get to http://exquisitelyerotic.net/ then they login and are sent to http://www.exquisitelyerotic.net/. The cookie and session are set for the URL without the www and they are logged out.

Update all the links you have control over to include the www. I will put a redirect on your site to stop it from happening in the mean time.

EDIT: That should be cleared up now.

Maybe you could explain how to put that redirect so others can know too :)

Not me, I'm not an htaccess nor mod_rewrite expert. I defer to nino on all occasions. I can't post code I can't support.

I wonder why that just now started happening?? The site's been up without the www since September. I know you told me I should, but had no idea how to change it, still don't, and didn't have time to ask, lol

thanks darlin for your help

For instance, in your signature, change http://exquisitelyerotic.net/ to http://www.exquisitelyerotic.net/

Get it?

In the ACP, make sure the forum URL, and all URLS for that matter, that you can set, including in vBa CMPS, are http://www.exquisitelyerotic.net/

Note the www. ;)
