I like what you're doing with the newsletter Joey, is it a hack you found or something you did custom?

How does vbwebmaster do the newsletter?petertdavis 06-07-2005, 04:44 AM I like what you're doing with the newsletter Joey, is it a hack you found or something you did custom? noppid 06-07-2005, 07:48 AM That in the community bulletin hack (commbull) at vbulletin.org contactsonia 06-07-2005, 08:33 AM This is the exact link for this hack - http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66334&highlight=comm+bull if anybody needs ;) . noppid 06-07-2005, 08:54 AM Thanks for the link. :) Joeychgo 06-07-2005, 09:05 AM do a search here for newsletter, its been discussed a few times. :) Thank you. Yes, thats the commbull hack at vb.org. What is cool is that you can pull the newsletter into dreamweaver before sending and alter it as you see fit pretty easily. I like this hack alot, although it could use a few minor improvements. On one of my forums I have 3500 members (and growing) I cant dump that many emails at once onto the server, so I have to set the number of emails to send at once at 200 and manually send batch after batch. I wish this was more automated. I would also like the whole process to be automated. i.e. set it to send the newsletter every Monday. It does have one problem. If you store CSS as a file the newsletter cant pick up the CSS. Other then that, its great. It really helps to keep people interested and draws people back to the site who havent been there for awhile. noppid 06-07-2005, 06:34 PM It does have one problem. If you store CSS as a file the newsletter cant pick up the CSS. After you create your commbull newsletter and click preview, in the lower edit box with the html code, find the link reference to your stored css file and prepend your forum URL to the path. CSS will then work. | |
