Getting Backlinks ...

Considering how my forum is merely up and running this means it is considerablly harder to get people to willingly backlink to my forum. Are they are comprimises which i can make on my behalf to get largers forums willing to backlink? So as linking to them at more than one place or something like that?

The short answer is - Ask.

The long answer is - First, submit your site to as many directories and link exchange places you can. WHen the next PR update comes around in a few months, you'll have an easier time getting other forums to link with you.

Search for your compititor's forum names than use Google or Altavista.com and use link:www.compititor-forums-name.com . This will let you know where your compititors forums are listed. Try contacting these sites, submit listing of your forums to these directories, mail them for the linking etc. Once you are done with the next PR update your site's PR will also increase and than you will find it easy to get more backlinks ;)

Thanks for the tips guys. I am planning on submitting my site to a couple of more subject specific directorys at the moment, but this link exchange business where can i find these type of sites? At the moment they all seem to be pre-paid asking for monthly fee's?
