I like the scrolling display you have of recent topics, can you tell the forum a bit about your landing page?

By landing page (as a novice here) i have to assume that you are talking about the index/home page.
For our landing page this time around I decided to use vBAdvanced CMPS (http://www.vbadvanced.com/). This addition is free and easy to use for our needs. I think that a portal is really a must have for community based websites, it's completely built around your forums. This allows blocks for news, recent threads, recent post, member activity and stats. On top of that its pretty easy to add your own custom pages as well that will keep your styles/skins. There is a ton a great hacks and mods for vB Advanced CMPS to give you some of them extras such as the scrolling topic blocks and other items, one of my favorites being members can get their own local forcast by adding zip code into a private field created in the user profile.
The only other portal system I have used is vBPortal and honestly I really did not dig it a whole lot, had a lot of issues and support was not all that great even after paying for a paid subscription.
I do hope that is what you was asking me lol

Sure thing, I think Joey has the VB portal idea here also and they have developed some great software to allow website/forum producers to do some fantastic portal sites.
Thanks for explaining and adding value to the forum :)

Have the authors posted plans to port the code to vBulletin 3.5
