Well I've always said I don't think so. Here is an example. This is the URL of the link that is indexed in google for one of my keywords and it is in the number two position.
http://www.lakecs.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31&daysprune=30&order=desc&sort=views
That's not the longest I've seen indexed either. That's just one of mine that got indexed and I did it so I know there was no cheating to get it indexed.

I think that Session IDs are what "hurt" positions.

That's a given for most anything &id and/or alot of characters in the variable.
This comment is addressing SEO mode on a forum Vs php urls.

I suspect it's both the number and type of variables in long URLs that can potentially confuse spiders (see Google's comment on that issue).
In the case of your URL, noppid, there aren't a lot of variables to start with and they modify the way the URL is displayed rather than the contents of the page -- and as Michael noted there is no session ID -- thus, I'm not surprised that Googlebot follows and indexes your URL just fine.
But it is important to keep posting examples like this -- there is still a persistent myth out there that Google won't index dynamic URLs and that you need to use mod-rewrites on your forum pages to ensure indexing and decent ranking. This myth is simply that -- a myth. It's not true.

Yes, that is a myth, I've shown examples of that in the past. However, regarding the vBGarage indexing. It sucks! It's terrible! That's why the URLs have been changed in vBPicGallery. IMO they WERE being filtered in most cases.
So it remains to be seen if there will be improvement. I'm not impressed with the results of the past myself.
