With the advent of vBulletin 3.5, it's time we had a great picture gallery that could be used for any topic. We present you with vBPicGallery - vBulletin Extension (http://www.cpurigs.com/) to do the job.

This is a fully vBulletin 3.5 API complient plugin. We hope you are as excited about it's coming release as we are!

Sweet!!!!

The new image resizing is the result of those huge bass pics you have. There will be no more out of proportion thumbnails and even very tall narrow pics resize properly.

File size takes precidence on the image upload however. So if the image is within your max file size limit, but the demensions beyond the allowed width or height you set, the pic will be automatically downsized to the specified demension. :)

vBPicGallery in not compatable with vBGarage in any way. Everything has been changed. The most important change is search engine friendly URLs.

damn. 3.5 only :(

There was really no point in adding all the new stuff to 3.0.7 code. It was time to move up. This a completely new deal. I mean totally.

The only thing the same really is my upload handling code for images, which is really expanded with new features, and my FS vs DB images handling code. The databases are expanded and most of the queries replaced. Every template has been recoded.

The images are now handled by a seperate file instead of the main script too. I can't believe it, but it's faster yet. It's got to be the new vBulletin 3.5 code, cause the images serve up way faster now. But of course those functions were rewritten too.

So we have more information coming out of the gallery with less queries. We're doing ok for now.

Say you have vBGarage 3.1.1 installed. Obviously this won't work with VB3.5. So does this mean that you will have to have everyone redo everything they've uploaded when you upgrade to vB 3.5 and install vBPicGallery?

I'm confused here. lol!

I really have not said anything yet to be honest regarding the vBGarage and what conversion paths there will be. This is a totally different photo gallery.

So you're saying that it's best to just start over with this new gallery, or are you considering looking into a conversion of some sort?

Doesn't matter to me. Upgrading to vBulletin 3.5 is gonna de-hack most of my site anyway. I'm sure much of what I have will be either lost or need upgrading anyway. I think as long as something better is in the next version, most people won't complain too much if they have to upload their pics all over again.

Save your database tables for the garage. I dunno if I can help with 3.11 either way, that was two versions ago. But there may be something. it's just data.

I never installed the vBgarage because I couldn't get the updated versions. I'm waiting for this. From what I've seen, it looks amazing. Definately a plugin of the year nominee.

Excellent to see a vBGarage replacement coming....please keep us posted on the release, I'll likely time my 3.5 upgrade at the same time!

75,000 forum page views a day outta test 'er out nicely :D

This is not a vBGarage replacement. This is a new gallery. There is no conversion avenue at this time.

It does look interesting - I've been viewing gallery options for when vB3.5 is released and this is definitely interesting.

Will it be a paid product or free? Also, are you planning to distribute and support it via vBwebmaster??

I have no immediate plans. Vacation is over soon, then I'll open the editor again and go from there.

The vBPicGallery (http://www.cpurigs.com/) is up and running on several forums. We are pleased with the results that are being reported regarding all aspects of the release.

If you need a lightweight picture gallery for your vBulletin 3.5 forum, check out vBPicGallery (http://www.cpurigs.com/)!

Yes, that would be nice.

Also, is the cost $20? If so, what must one pay annually after that for updates/support.

Nice! I think I'll be getting it (need to talk with the sponser first). Now two things I was wondering about but didn't notice a topic about:

1) What type of members area and/or download system is used?
2) Is it fully integrated (including skinwise)?

1) The member system is vBulletin. vBPicGallery is not a stand alone project.

2) Yes, vBulletin style wise it is. A custom skin usually has custom tables and would require custom integration in some cases.

Depends on my availability and the skin. I'd probably show ya how to do one table and let ya take over.
