A few easy ways to earn with your forum.
1: One of the easiest and effort free ways is to sign up for Google Adsense (http://www.google.com/adsense). Google will display ads according to the content of the page and you will get paid for every click on an ad. This is somewhat fire and forget in that once set up, it basically requires no maintenence.
2: Sell ad space. You could sell banner or text ads. There are companies out there that will sell text links for you such as Link Worth (http://www.linkworth.com/). They will market your site and sell text links for you at the prices you set, keeping a percentage for themselves. You can also sell banner ads to companies who sell products or services related to your site's theme. Search for them. If your site is about Motorcycles, do a search for motorcycle parts. Then send an email to as many parts suppliers as you can, offering banner ad space. Include your site stats like PR, pageviews and monthly visits. Sell Your site and make it look attractive.
3: Offer a paid membership option to your forum. Offer an upgraded membership ad provide as many benefits to those members you can. Give them members only forums, a rank badge, etc. You might also look for product vendors who will give discounts to your paid members in exchange for a free banner ad.
