Displaying forum rules

Hey,

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.

How can I display the forum rules? (Such as a link on the top navigation bar), Because I can't seem to figure it out, sounds stupid I know but it's really starting to annoy me now.

Thanks.

you mean the faq??? Its already in your navbar....

Just put this in your navbar template where you want it if you have a rules section, remember to switch out your url and stuff :

<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="http://www.yoursite.com/forum/xxxxxx.php">Rules</a></td>

No, not the FAQ, but the area next to the FAQ yes.

I'll have a mess around and tell you what I come up with, Thanks.

edit:
Where can I find the correct document to modify?
In Style manager, I tried: AdminCP > Styles & Templates > Style Manager > (Drop down box) Edit templates > Navigation / Breadcrumb Templates > navbar

Tried adding the code you gave me to the end of the document, and it displays it underneith the actual navbar....

Don't put it at the end of the navbar template... look for a similar line with FAQ in it and place after the closing td.

Doh!

I feel so stupid now :p.

Thanks.

Edit:
Btw, how could I make a page like this?:
http://forums.pcper.com/rules.php

As in the way it's listed..

Or, how can I make a forum post to link to the rules, but you can't actually see it by viewing through the forums....... if that makes sense. Thanks

Well, essentially there are several ways that can be achieved. Here's two of them.

1 - Install the Add new vB Page hack over from vB.org and create your new page this way.
2 - Install vBAdvanced (http://www.vbadvanced.com) CMPS which will allow you to do #1 - but a whole lot more to boot:)

vBW has vBA installed, as do I on tMP (http://www.themouthpiece.com) and vBXtra (http://www.vbxtra.com) and my wifes playgroup (http://www.rainbowsunbeams.com) site (plus many others too). It is a front portal application that allows you to easily install new pages, modules etc - all very quickly indeed. All you'd need to do is create the html to show that page and pop it into either a seperat efile, or template, then call it from vBA page. Voila!

Oh and did I mention... it is also free...!!!

Go for it...

Thanks for the reply,
I currently am already running the front end of my website with my own portal I wrote, and I don't really want to use that portal (all though it does sound good, may use it in the future).

Could you give me the URL to the hack please? I tried searching the forums but it won't seem to let me search for some reason .

Thanks.
