For or Against Welcoming Threads ?

Hello !

I've seen alot of new forums and it seems like the admins and mods are always anxious to start posting / replying so they post alot of useless threads. I think that a "welcome to blah blah section" thread in every new section is useless, unless this section has a very specific way of working (ie. a trading forum) but who needs a thread like this in the "chit chat" forum:

"Welcome to the chit chat forum"
Hi ! welcome to the chit chat forum ! Enjoy your stay !

I mean, we have the forums' descriptions to tell everyone what the forum is about, and announcements to give out the rules...

What do you think.. ?

I try to welcome new members and encourage everyone else to do the same.

IMO, a single "Introductions" forum is sufficient. ;)

That works pretty good.

Those threads Alex described are common with start up forums. Better then zero posts if ya have a new forum I guess.

Yeah, I'm not talking about greetings new comers, I totally agree with that ! I'm talking about the admin making a new thread in each of his/her sections so it's not ~empty~ ;)

Sorry about the misunderstanding it may have cause !
