Not sure if I posted in the right section or not, but here goes...
I'm looking into adding banners on my forum and heard Musicman talk about phpAdsnew for doing it. Now, I tried to set it up, but I keep getting errors. How do I set up a directory in order to get this to work? I'm sure there's a simple way to do this, but I'm a moron, so all the help is greatly appreciated.
After I get this set up, I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Hey Bassnutz...
If you meant a directory to install phpAdsnew, then call it just that... /phpadsnew
The application doesn't use directories to control the presentation of banners or adverts, it uses a concept of publishing zones. These are essentially the sites to which you want your banners to be published. You can allow advertisers to upload their own banners and activate their promotional campaigns etc... it really is a fabulous open source product.
You then get phpAdsNew to generate what they call "invocation script/code" which you place at a location in one of your vB templates wherever you wish to see adverts delivered to that 'zone'.
Voila!!! phpAdsNew then delivers the banners you have set for that zone - to that zone.
Shout if you need more specific help... am more than happy to advise etc...

Yes I meant a directory to install phpAdsnew in. Do I set it up in the public_html section?

Yes it has to be in public_html or in a subdirectory. See my blog on Secure File Locations (http://sarahk.pcpropertymanager.com/blog/secure-file-locations/72/) for more on that.
I'd avoid calling it phpadsnew, I use max (which is an alternate project name) because the Norton's ad blocker looks for "ads" in strings and blocks content from there. I have some more info on their forum about that: http://forum.phpadsnew.com/index.php?showtopic=7679&hl=
It's a great system and I have it running at Raincheck (http://www.raincheck.co.nz) with a bunch of dummy ads because the site is not quite live.

I tried it once like a year or two ago. Call me dumb, I didn't get it.
Maybe it's better now?
