A few questions to ask yourself before choosing your next domain name...

Before you go out on a limb and buy another domain name, ask yourself a few questions...

For starters, what's your topic????

What does your name have to do with that topic....IMO it should probobly have something to do with it....A name like scienceisfordorks.com has nothing to do with a site for earwax build up, make your name relate to said topic...

Next, is your potential name too long or confusing???

Users dont particularly like anamelikethisthatdragsonforever.com or d0gb0nz4nonnomous.nz.....ashortname.com would be more appealing.

Next, ask yourself if its catchy....

awaveofshock.com or shockwave.com <---thats more attractive and will be able to be remembered.

Finnaly, ask yourself if there is already a site like it out there...and if your name is taken....

Will your money be well spent trying to compete with a board of 12000 members???
Check your domain availability with your registrar.

There is always a way to come up with a great name MX, you can also buy existing sites real cheap, I know webmasters that acquired entire forums for under $500.00

There are a lot of hosted sites available also for peanuts out there now.

I own about 400 or so domains www.internetnamebank.com

I can come up with a few for you if needed.

If you are going to play the serps for adsense and maybe an affilliate, I don't think a catchy domain is necessary.

However, when you are targeting repeat business after the initial hit, I think it matters.

In this business, I think it's best to be in all the areas of possibility. A shot gun approach if you will.

Indeed, different strategies have different requirements. Some sites may require branding, whilst others are fine with keyword descriptions. Depends on end goals.
