Avatars in Vbulletin

Hi there,

I've heard that vbulletin allows for externally linked avatars to be used as custom avatars for each member - is this true and if so, how do I activate it? The idea some users have proposed to save disk space on my server is to allow them to link to externally stored avatars on their external server. Is this possible?

Also, I understand that this would save diskspace, but would this trick save on bandwidth? I've been told that the bandwidth is consumed from where the picture was uploaded to (ie the external server) and not the forum server - is this true?
