Hi everyone
We experiencing an issue with our forum, when the reply button is used for a private message IE6 times out and locks up, yet it seems to work fine if the reply is kept short, leaving IE does not work either.
Has anyone come across such an issue?
Thanx
Sheldon

How many users have reported this issue? Have you tried FireFox or any other browser? Do the users reporting this issue use software firewalls?
My guess is it's an end user problem, but post back and will take it apart step by step.

Hi
Well all the users are having this, they all are XP users with IE6, I myself have the same browser but run Win2k Pro, I also have Firefox, both work 100% for me.
The Xp users though are having this problem, some users have things like XP firewall or Zonealarm, many of them dont though.
I asked my wife to attempt a post this morning on her XPsp2 Pro box, a short message went through fine, a longer message froze up after 4-5 secs and IE went to "Not Responding".
Thanx
Sheldon

Are you getting any error messages from vbulletin to the admin account set in your config.php?
Is this new? Are you on a shared server? Have you had the forum hosted where you are long? I'm leaning toward a server side error, but remember, this is guess work at this point.

Yes it is a new forum, the forum is only a few months old now, and as far as I know the server is a shared Nix server.
The funny thing is that my W2k Pro client seems to not have this issue, yet the XP clients do

I have had vB look at my forum as I was experiencing this. They tell me it is a java issue with some code on 3.0.8 and have suggested I revert to the java used in 3.0.7

I think John gets the credit here. I'm on 3.0.7 patched and would have never figured it out most likely.

hey guys...necro is one of my moderators and I was using the 3.0.7 first before I upgraded to 3.0.8 and had been hoping it would have been fixed as that prior version gives the same hassles.
Can I just say thank you again? :) Still haven't gotten around to fixing my logo MusicMan but I will soon. Thanks for all your helps :)
