NEWB question: Are dashes in...

...a domain name a good spam indicator? How about numbers in it too? Like: whyw8.com or even love2learn.com.

Any input on such naming conventions?

Unless there are alot of dases, I dont think they mean anything.

Taking a quote from that link, here's the short answer to your question:

"To answer a common question, Google doesn’t algorithmically penalize for dashes in the url."

I haven't had any issues with search engines and my domain name either...

ih8mud.com - even searching "i hate mud" in yahoo nets a #1 return.

I use a dash in my domain name, but i dont think that it creates a undermining sense of site quality just because of that one character, and those who make that assumption certainly are being a little overanalytical.
