Crappy Adsense CTR, help me please

One of my sites, ok most of my sites have a really crappy CTR.

Take a look at this one, let me know what you think I should change to help bring up my CTR. This site has been averaging 0.3% in September. Close to 10K impressions and less than 30 clicks, that sucks:

www.TheSEOKing.com

What should I do with it? Change the colors? Change the locations? I took a look at Google's heat map, these are pretty much where that said it should be (I think).

OK - too many ads for starters.... I would have no more then 1 or 2 ad blocks

Second, try to use the large box size ads only.

Third, placement. Look to place your ads on the top left of the page mainly.

Ok, I'll ditch the one at the bottom.

Which is that? Square (250 x 250)? Large Rectangle (336x280)?

I would put the top ad under the text. I would also switch the columns. move the right column to the left and the left to the right. OR move the ads to the left column above the links list.

Goog luck.

P.S. I thought I could increase my CTR by making my ads a brighter color. I left them where they were however. but it back fired, my CTR went down. I'm putting the ads back to the same colors as my site links.

Ok, done. I've moved the ad block and the news block to the left hand side of the page, and moved the top ad block to under the text on the main page.

How's it look now?

The top looks much better.

The columns however seem, to me, that the left side needs to be indented a bit.

Maybe this could help that...

Just tossing out ideas, those indents work really well for me in my archive.

I made the table that houses the ads & links 90% instead of 100%, it moved both the right and left sides in a little bit. Look better?

I would move that top bank of ads to the bottom of the page.

The more ads you have, the more likihood that the user will click a lower paying ad. Also, the big horizontal ad is one of the worst performers google has.

Pull the 'sponsored links' too

Pull the 'sponsored links' too

What do you mean, the text or the block of ads?

The Text 'Sponsored Links' - THey dont seem to care if there is no label, only if its mislabled. I would also pull the top bank of ads and move them to the bottom.

Ok, shifted everything around... again. I moved the "news" to the bottom, and moved the ad blocks.

I'm leaving it alone for now and will keep an eye on the CTR to see if it changes at all. Today was 0.0%. 1000 impressions, 0 clicks. :-(

Well, CTR has fallen. Traffic has dropped a very little bit, and the CTR that was 0.5% on the 12th, 0.3% on the 13th & 14th has dropped to 0.1% on the 17th & 18th, 0.2% on the 20th & 21st. The days in between the 14th and the 22nd have been 0.0%.

Any suggestions?

I see alot of white space around the ads - make the ads seem to be part of the site.

Maybe I'm ad blind, but my eyes went right to the content skipping the top ad and I stopped reading at the news articles and never got to the bottom ad.

Try not centering the ads, left align them so they align with your content.
