I sincerely wish you good luck in your ventures, and this sounds like an interesting campaign. Good luck with this also.

However, please excuse my ignorance, but when there's google, yahoo, MSN etc as well as a plethora of other directories, why on earth would anyone pay to have their site (1) entered in a directory or (2) to search a directory?

Can someone explain please...

I will only answer by saying small and niche directories are still doing very well...
