With vBulletin 3.5 going Gold soon, I started looking around the hacks at vb.org. I thought I would list a few of the ones that I felt were important for most forums to have or consider having. I havent installed any of these hacks yet, so I cant testify as to how well they function, but they are hacks you may want to consider for your forum.

With the template edit you can display adsense or banner after every 1st post.
Miserable Users (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93258)
Here is a 3.5.0 plugin to replicate the popular "miserable users" hacks from previous vb versions. Basically a way to really annoy anyone you don't want visiting your forum.
Put a Column on the RIGHT side of every forum page (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94495)
This little PRODUCT will provide you with a template to put content in a column going down the right side of every forum page. The hack for the Left side is HERE (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91888)
Add a banner image to each forum (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94119)
This modification will Add an image banner w/ link Or paste in your own HTML code option per forum. These files can be any image. (png, jpg, gif, ect). This will be located after the $navbar on FORMDISPLAY. This images can be located on the localhost or on a remote server.
Event Forums (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93308)
The plugin creates a tight integration between a calendar and a forum. When an event is created in a calendar, a corresponding thread is created in its forum.
Event Attendance 2.0 (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93782)
With this hack when you create an event you can give the users an option to "register" to the event. Then you can view which people have registered to that event. This could be used so you create an event and then other people notify that they will be attending to the event. You can then keep track of all the people that would be attending each event.
Members who have visited the forum today (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82769)
This plugin adds a simple display of all members who have visited the forum 'today' (i.e. since midnight).
PM Attachments 3.5 (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=95477)
With this hack you can send attachments inside private messages.
Sometimes you may want to send an image or file to another user, but
you just don't want to disclose your email or make the file public,
with this hack you can attach it to the private message.
Automatic Welcome PM (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91729)
This Hack will automatically send welcome PMs to new members.
vBulletin Google Site Map (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=91389)
Google site maps for vBulletin are a great way of getting pages found faster, therefore anchor text being found faster, therefore pages being ranked higher faster, and Google PR being attributed to pages faster and better.
vB Forum Sponsors (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93648)
This will allow you to setup a linked banner to appear on you forums area. The look of the icon depends on how you want to set it up in the templates. This will work for all levels of sub-forums.
Different banner on each forumbit (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93673)
This modification will add an image banner with link and text to each forum you choose, and display it in on your forumhome postbits, you can have a different banner for each forum with additional text above the banner like Sponsored by or affiliated with, or you can choose to have no text.
Signature Image Size Limiter (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=83146)
Lets you limit the size of a users sig image.
PayPal Payment Options (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=83464)
This is a small mod that allows you to add options, such as shirt size and/or shirt color, etcetera, to PayPal payments. The ZIP contains instructions for vB 3.5.0 and vB 3.0.7. It should be easy enough to extend to other payment processors.
