Just an idea I'm contemplating, namely, to sell a sponsorship package. Each sponsor would get

1) A rotating plug in my signature. I'd code it so that MY signature cycled through the sponsors, showing a small plug and a link to their forum within the...

2) Sponsor Category, with each sponsor having their own forum where only they can start threads. They would post HTML newsletters, product announcements, etc. here.

3) A small image add on the CMPS page, just one placement, it would cycle with the other sponsors.

Great idea! What would you charge for this?

That's just one of those questions where the answer is meaningless without context. As it is, I need to attract many more visitors before I can launch anything like this. It was just an idea I was kicking around.

I seel banner ads on all my sites, and do well with it.

Right - whereas I resist traditional advertising. I despise everything about Google Adsense, and I routinely Adblock adsense, banners, avatars, etc.

The idea was that a sponsor wouldn't simply advertise - they'd display real content. Many of my potential advertisers are software vendors, and sell extremely high-end software packages (in the six-figure range). They send out HTML newsletters to their clients.

The concept was to extend that reach to non-customers. I'd have a "Vendor Newsletter" category. Each sponsor would have their own forum. The posts would be links to their HTML newsletters. Each post would really be an IFRAME with src set to their current newsletter, and anyone could respond to those posts with normal posts.
